Trump just blew it, Mr. Kuchta said, alluding to President Trumps mismanagement of the coronavirus pandemic. He just didnt handle it. He could have shut things down for five or six weeks and figured out what he was doing, but he never had a plan.

Mr. Finebaum predicted that the loss of the college football season would damage Mr. Trump even among his most faithful supporters.
Ive always tried desperately to keep politics out of our program, and this summer Ive failed miserably, he said. We dont have a day that doesnt pass where someone doesnt call up and blame the president. Even from the South, Ive heard more anger directed at the president than I thought.

Mr. Holtz, a former coach at Notre Dame and other colleges, who grew up in northeast Ohio and played football at Kent State University, said during an appearance on Fox News that football players should assume pandemic risks as if they were fighting in a war.
When they stormed Normandy, they knew there were going to be casualties there were going to be risks, Mr. Holtz said. Young people, they think its like cancer. They think theyre going to die."

(11,868 posts)When they stormed Normandy they were fighting to keep Democracy alive and to save Europe from Hitler.
These young people are playing a GAME for the ENTERTAINMENT and ENRICHMENT of others.
These kids can contract a disease that, if they survive, can haunt them with medical difficulties that will be a life long deterrent to their dreams.
I simply cannot understand the callous reactions of those who are at the ends of their careers and lives toward the young. Looking at you Mr. Holtz.
It is a total corruption of the notion of sacrifice for the common good.
The corruption of fame, money, and power is absolute.

(15,330 posts)Already, there are 10...10! Football players from the Big 10 that are showing up to a 5% loss in heart function due to something we still don't understand about how the virus impacts our organs.
5% reduction in a sport where your chance of being successful hinges on micro differences in speed and agility seems pretty fucking significant!
And then there is my mom, who, had chickenpox as a young child, and then, at age 84 developed a debilitating case of shingles that Damm near killed her and left her permanently scarred
And Lou Holtz can just go fuck himself. Woody Hayes would beat the absolute living shit out of him for being so cavalier about the young men he's supposed to care for.
