I get so tired of having to pander to the armchair warriors and pseudo-patriots who would throw a fit if the American flag wasn't on prominent display.
Hell, the organizers of her acceptance speech probably threw in multiple flags just so some toothless Deliverance types wouldn't scream and yell. "They's on'y got theyselves ONE flag!!! That meens they HATE Amurika!!!"

(66,379 posts)Insofar as I'm not a purist at all.
I respect what the organizers were trying to do; I just hate that they've allowed the screamers to dictate what counts as 'patriotic'.

(36,470 posts)I think it diminishes the significance of the flag by doing that. It becomes a decoration, not a symbol.

(28,941 posts)The lapel flag. Ah Mr President, we know you're a US citizen. You wouldn't have the job otherwise.

(66,379 posts)I might wear the lapel pin to my Southwest Asia Service Medal, instead. Anyone who disliked that could kiss my ass...

(66,379 posts)One: Too many flags; we get the idea.
Two: It didn't do a lick of good. The Trumpanzees never stopped questioning President Obama's birth. And now they're doing to Kamala Harris.

(5,640 posts)Personally, I think this is like the flag pin. It has become ubiquitous and necessary evil for politicians. An easy solution to avoid unnecessary ridicule. When it is so easy to do, why not do it, it shows Patriotism and respect and gives their opponents no easy pickings.
