LTE Explaining the security of vote by mail.

Experience shows security for mail-in ballots

President Trump has shared concerns and threats about the validity of mail-in voting. I was a long-term absentee voter before Washington state went full mail-in voting.

This year my daughter became a first-time voter. She registered to vote several months ago with a signature that was similar to her printed name. She recently created a different signature which is how she signed her ballot envelope. A few days ago, she received a letter from Snohomish County Elections stating that her signatures did not match and requesting she validate her signature by signing and returning the form.

This process was new to me and helped me understand effective measures in place to ensure each vote is validated. Mail-in voting is safe and secure and keeps us healthy during the coronavirus pandemic.
