Tracking was really weird too, it just sort of hung in limbo for a couple days.

At least I got it and it wasn't medicine, so you have that.

Our mail goes to and comes from Detroit. Packages were being directed to other states taking weeks instead of days before they got delivered. I mailed a package from Lansing to Flint and it sat in Pittsburgh for three weeks before coming back to Detroit.

It was due to the virus at the time and it is back to normal now.

And I had to have Costco reach out on my behalf to get the post office to send it. It was sitting in a post office two hours from my house. Sitting there for days on end.

This was a month ago. At that time, Costco was reporting that they had delays for a month.

Never fails. Year after year. This month today the 13th. No big deal but apply to November with 2 days (or more) of ballots not arriving on time. That can be all the difference in the outcome in some states.

Effective April 17, 2020:

The Postal Service’s flagship Priority Mail Express service, which guarantees overnight service, will not change.

Service commitments for local 1-day Priority Mail will not change.

Priority Mail’s two and three day service commitments now will be extended to three and four days respectively. Customers will continue to receive end-to-end visibility and improved product tracking, as well as up to $50 in free insurance.

With the extra day extension, customers should expect delivery using Priority Mail Open and Distribute (PMOD)to range from two to four days nationwide.

First-Class Package Service (FCPS)two and three day service commitments will also be extended to three and four days respectively.

Global Express Guaranteed Services also have been altered. For a full list of international and domestic updates, refer to usps.com.

The Postal Service’s goal continues to be to move packages as expeditiously as possible. The Postal Service continually reviews its network capacity to provide the Americanpublic reliable, efficient, and fast-delivery service. We will continue to keep you abreast of improvements in transportation availability and when we will be able to return to normal service levels.

Thus, COVID seems to be the *stated* reason, rather than anything supposed. Hope your items arrive tomorrow. Let us know how you make out!

I just came across your post about the canning lids being sent to you. No wonder you're chomping at the bit! Those tomatoes are precious, but they're on their own schedule and don't care about USPS delays.

It is especially noticeable with Amazon packages, because you can track day to day. It appears that the holdup is coming from a distribution center one stop away from my local post office. That center is in Florida and they may be having personnel shortages, but that is just a guess.

I paid the $7.75 for Priority First Class mail (or whatever it's called) and it was delivered almost a week late. I meant to demand a refund but never got around to it. I'm not sure if that was due to dejoy's changes or not.

Also, a lot of my job's bill payments are not arriving on time.
