The Conservative Media Industrial Complex runs the Republican party and has been doing so for years.

Since the launch of Fox News, the combined strength of The Conservative Media Industrial Complex has grown so large that it runs the Republican party outright.

The goals of this complex run contrary to a political party. Where a political party seeks to broaden support, the complex seeks only to win a greater market share of the White, male demo. Look at Tucker Carlson, he successfully replaced Bill O'Reilly by going harder after the White nationalist audience. His overall ratings may not be so great, but that's not what he's paid for. He's paid to bring in White males which he does so by playing on racial grievances.

Trump won the Republican nomination in 2016 because the other candidates were trying to win primaries while Trump was playing for the complex's audience. He used language that would be right at home for a right wing AM talk radio DJ on the 2 to 6 PM drive home slot, and he continues to do so as president.

My theory on why congressional and party establishment are so afraid of Trump is not because of Trump, but because of this complex that supports him 100%. Romney can do it because his constiuents are their own unique entity within the party. For the others, crossing Trump means crossing the complex. Doing so puts in you in jeopardy. You can lose a general election and get a job on Fox News or some other media, but going against the complex means a complete end to your career.

Trump knows this. He knows what drives media. In fact, Trump knows more about media than he does about commercial Real Estate.

But he also thinks ratings are validation.

Because he's deeply stupid.

The Conservative Media Industrial Complex is the enforcement mechanism that keeps Republican politicians in line. If they waver even slightly from whatever the current dogma is, their local AM hate radio stations + social media will come after them with a vengeance.
