He's been busy. And, BTW, he won, as a Democrat, in the primary by a good margin. There's a video of his press conference at the link.
17 arrested in child-trafficking sweep in Genesee County
GENESEE COUNTY, MI A law enforcement operation targeting child traffickers led to the arrest of 17 people, county sheriff Chris Swanson announced at a press conference on Friday evening.
At 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, Swanson also said that a rescue operation earlier that day had located seven children who had gotten lost in the cracks.
Over the course of five months, Swanson said that a team in his department known as GHOST - the Genesee Human Oppression Strike Team - had set up six stings, during which law enforcement agents posed as 13, 14, and 15-year-old children on social media sites.
People who then arrived at locations expecting to be able to assault those children were instead arrested, and will be prosecuted, Swanson said. He did not say where they are currently being held, if arraignments have already taken place, or what the charges are likely to be.

(67,782 posts)...(like 99%) are good cops. But there are bad ones that ruin it for everyone.

Are you telling me that they're powerless to stop that %1 dirty cops.

(31,261 posts)beats down questioning of the legitimacy of some conduct, and one where superiors dont punish police officers that violate the oath that they take. So why would a decent police officer stick his or her neck out when one of their fellow officers is going un-necessarily rough on a suspect? Unless there is structure in the department, standing up for what is right while in the field could result in a slow response when a call for assistance is made.
Counties, Cities, States should invest in technology that monitor where police cruisers are, so that when calls for assistance are made, the response of nearby units can be calibrated against what should be expected given traffic conditions. If an officer makes the right call on backing down a fellow officer in the field and that officer is getting slow response to a call for help, officers in units that should have responded in x amount of time should face disciplinary action for a slow response.
