Donald Trump spends a lot of time and energy trying to figure out how to 'block' mail-in ballots

says administration insider

President Donald Trump is fixated on mail-in ballots and spends considerable time trying to figure out how to "block" such voting, a senior administration source told The Washington Post.

According to the source, the president spends considerable time "reading news reports and other materials about mail-in ballots, talking about the topic with his advisers and thinking about how to block such voting."

The Post reports that Trump recently met with congressional Republicans to air his concerns, citing a recent election fraud case in New Jersey.Election experts told NPR is very rare and highlighted the effectiveness of existing measures to guard against fraud.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Matthews defended Trump in a statement to the Post, and said he's working "to ensure the security and integrity of our elections."

...is not worth the risk of death. Besides, they've got most of the voting machines rigged, anyway.

everyone. He seems -- at least at this point -- to be reconciled to mass no-excuse absentee voting where each person has to request a ballot. Where he is wrong is assuming Democrats are the only ones likely to cheat, which is absurd considering trump, McConnell, etc.

I think there is some increased risk in mailing out ballots to everyone on the voter registry. Some years ago, I read that close to 15% of people move every year. While that is probably less now with CV19, I wouldn't want ballots going to addresses that aren't current. Of course, that risk likely works both ways -- impacting Democrats and GOPers somewhat equally.

Point is, as long as he can't stop the 34 states that either vote only by mail (5 do) or have no-excuse absentee ballots, his actions aren't going to help him in the election. In fact, I think a few other states that don't have no-excuse voting are now going to allow CV19 as a valid excuse to vote by mail.

I also believe postal workers will ensure ballots get delivered. Recent announcements by USPS seems to indicate they've heard the message and aren't going to remove more mailboxes, sorting machines, etc. (although I don't see a big issue in most of that. For example 240,000 blue mail boxes have been removed since 1985.)
