In a recent interview, the Lincoln Project leaders said that they were going to work with Joe Biden while he's in office. OF COURSE in 2024, they will try to win - that's normal.
But I wonder. Is the left willing to work with the right to get things done, or does the left hate the right so much, that there will never be common ground.
Four months ago, the Republicans and Democrats of the House and Senate successfully passed a bill to help the economy during the pandemic. It was a band-aid, it helped more rich people than poor people. But it was a successful coming together during a disaster.
Hopefully in September, it will happen again.
I am overwhelmed with the hatred here for ***all*** Republicans. I have relatives who are Republicans who are decent people. There are some Republicans who would be Democrats, except that they are Pro-Life. Not every Republican is racist, not every Republican is corrupt.
How will we work together, how will we accomplish anything in 2021 when there is so much hatred on both sides?

(16,254 posts)When the Democrats are constantly put down by Trump in such a vicious way, the Republicans can't expect us to constantly turn the other cheek. I'm not talking about an occasional comment, I'm referring to a 24/7 stream.
Behind the scenes, I believe there are still Republicans/Democrats who speak civilly to each other and work together in Congress, but
even that is becoming more rare.
It is disappointing that so many Republicans remain loyal to Trump for whatever reason. I don't know if he has a hold over them beyond loyalty or they are weak enough that they can't speak their own mind. There are a few, but very few.
It will work out eventually. I have to admit that one of my family members shocked me awhile ago by dissing Biden in such a harsh way. I am still trying to figure it out, because I never realized she could be that crude. I finally decided she must watch FOX and believe what she hears. It is difficult to hear/see untruths (that you can document) coming from friends/family and not have a reaction of disbelief. It causes you to drift away for a while.
