Per MSNBC. They will vote on emergency post office legislation in addition to emergency hearings.

(18,486 posts)Pelosi can call the House back in session and they can vote on legislation with little notice. But they must give seven days notice to hold a hearing.
I hope that clarifies for you.

(8,090 posts)But "there is very little, if anything, they can do in Washington right now, especially with the Senate out of session..."!

(18,486 posts)There isn't much for them to do in DC.
Most Members aren't on the Oversight Committee and don't need to be here for the hearing and I suspect that many Members are not happy about having to leave their districts to return to Washington to vote on legislation that has no possibility of going anywhere until the Senate returns instead of staying in the district working with their constituents, drawing local coverage, etc.
But just as working in their districts is just as important as being in Washington, optics can be just as important as actually doing something, so now that the public pressure is rising, it makes sense for them to go back in session.
