(21,768 posts)Perhaps in a central processing plant. He goes on to say The Postal Service would be fine if the politicians left it alone.
He hopes they can hold on til November, implying things will change then.
He talks about his job, and how his customers rely on him.

(25,981 posts)"Tell me what you're seeing right now."
"There is a lull - l u l l - in the mail volume. The whole thing is just a -- they're trying to shut us down so that people can't vote, just basically trying to take away people's Constitutional right to vote... to rig the election. That's all this is about. The postal service is fine. If they let us into our business, the postal service is fine. We just have to make it to November to take back control. So people can vote."
"What have you seen in your district?"
"The main thing is just the volume of mail, the first class is down, people are saying they're not getting their mail. I haven't had a whole lot of that, but, but... We don't know where the mail's at. The mail's out there somewhere. The mail is there. It's just not coming to us. They're shutting down our sorting plants and it's just making it harder for people to get their mail."
"What do you think people should do right now?"
"I'm not real sure there is anything people can do. Just vote. Get out there. Go online and get your mail in ballots and vote. Vote before they have a chance to take it away from you."
"What do you think is the role of the Postal Service in democracy?"
"We're the everyday people. We see everything. We see what's going on, we help. Like you said, your former carrier, she would help people. We notice if somebody's sick or somebody hasn't gotten their mail. We know there's an alarm. We know to look. There have been times when I've called to have a safety check, checked on people because they haven't gotten their mail. I had a man in ____, had to call the fire dept to come in and help him out. Had a house blow up from a gas leak. We see everything. We see what's going on in the community. Most of us will take the time to get to know people. Just to know people's habits so you know if something's wrong.

Mail carriers do not get enough credit -- not only for doing their job delivering the mail, but for being community sentinels and taking the time and care to go above and beyond their job to serve their communities.
Thank you, USPS!

(28,347 posts)they are not getting the mail at the local post offices from the distribution centers?
So, where is our mail?
Obstructing or interfering with the mail is a crime.

(25,253 posts)that packages sit for days at a distribution center before they're moved on. It used to be that - sometimes the same day if the package arrived early enough - or on the next day - the packages would move out of a distribution center to one closer to my house where the package would be delivered. Not any more. It might be 3 or 4 days before a package gets out of a distribution center now.
The other odd thing I noticed is sometimes the package arrives at a distribution center closer to my house and sits there a couple of days - before it is transferred to a distribution center much further away - and then ultimately is sent back to the one closest to my house.
E-Bay packages are taking a lot longer to be delivered than at the beginning of this year.
Has anyone else seen this type of delaying?

(649 posts)Package I am tracking arrived at my local post office (2 miles from my house) on Friday morning. I thought 'maybe' delivery Saturday, or Monday for sure. Friday evening it was 'accepted' at a post office 30 miles west, where it sits right now. I'm waiting to see what happens tomorrow morning, but not holding my breath for a Monday delivery. We'll see where it goes next.
I have never seen this before.

(4,544 posts)I had one package sit in a distribution center in Illinois for SIX DAYS before it moved, and then it sat for THREE more days locally. The most time a USPS package took to get to me in the past, even just a few weeks ago, was about 3 days cross country.

(3,707 posts)I left the shit-hole country of my birth in early 2018. For several years before, as I reduced my 27-year sedentary life to 3 suitcases, I sold a lot of my 'stuff' via eBay.
The USPS service then was always great. Priority packages and first class mail tracking and delivery times were as guaranteed.
A couple of times deliveries were completed before tracking caught up, but nothing was lose, ruined or late.

(21,768 posts)He is deviating from his duties and probably violating The Hatch Act.
The Postal Service takes these things seriously.

(21,768 posts)The Post Office doesn't pay you to stand around and chat, and his Supervisor will review this and may conclude this is political speech. Also, his Supervisor will be super pissed because this guy is bringing heat down on him/her. Postal Supervisors tend to stack on the charges.
I hope this Carrier has a clean discipline record.

(45,806 posts)surprise that it's at the sorting & distribution centers. Thst's where they'd get the biggest effect for the least amount og tampering. I don't want people to suffer because of these JA's but I really want them to prove to the American voters that DT's behind this whole mess. THAT would get a lot more people to vote against DT than anything we can do.
