California mega church packs 1000s indoors today, no masks

The church had reopened indoor services toward the end of July, which is when Los Angeles County sought a court order barring it from holding services, arguing that there was an immediate health risk.

In response, the church had filed suit Wednesday, alleging that pandemic regulations were being applied unequally by public officials, i.e. by allowing department stores and factories to stay open inside, but not houses of worship.

“We will obey God rather than men. We are going to be faithful to the Lord and leave the results to Him. Whatever happens is going to be what He allows to happen. But He will be on our side because we will be obedient and faithful to His word,” said Pastor John MacArthur in a previously recorded video.

As a result, the lower court ruled in favor of the church, but that ruling was set aside, allowing public health officials to enforce a portion of the health order that prohibits indoor religious services.

Despite this, the church held services indoor Sunday, with outdoor seating as an option for congregants.

“We’re not meeting because we want to be rebellious,” said MacArthur. “We’re meeting because our Lord has commanded us to come together and worship him.”

I'm Christian - the logic of "Whatever happens is what He allows to happen" is foreign to me. I want to ask people who think this way, "Okay, so ... no chemo, no antibiotics, no surgery, no eyeglasses, no physical, occupational, or speech therapy, no canes, no crutches, no wheelchairs. Nada. Zilch. If you have had a stroke, no medicine, no rehab. If you have an infection, no antibiotics. If you have cancer, no surgery, chemo, or radiation."

They think they will win the short, medium, and long games.

non linear warfare and reflexive control methodologies that have been imprinted onto tens upon tens of millions.

They will be slow-steered into it, just like they have been for decades now. Take a step back and just LOOK at the current political landscape, the very zeitgeist itself. Madness is running riot. Up is down, down is up. But even though slow-steering has heretofore been the order of the day for ages, sooner or later there is going to be a truly massive inflection point, and then, at that terrible minute, that place in time in this long arc, it might be GO TIME. It only takes a certain confluence of events of sufficient magnitude, and then one swan vesta (a 'call to violent action' tweet from Trump perhaps, but no one can truly forecast what it can and/or will be) tossed into the ultra combustible æther that is the USA, circa 2020. That will amplified and driven home by the nightmarish edifices of QAnon and other social media/web platforms, outlets, and groups that have been erected right before the nation's very eyes.

I hope to hell I am wrong, but I see little at a macro level that gives me true pause atm, provided certain prefaces are met. The ties that bind are being so rent asunder that the centre cannot hold. 20 years MAX I give it (and I can lay out a multiplicity of pathways and systemic events that will further exacerbate and amplify the already tremendous dialectical tensions at nearly every level along the way), probably less, especially if Rump and the Rethugs literally steal the election and nothing is done.

religion is the greatest cause of the destruction of the 🌎 world. Always has been.

The reason I know this is because so many people I've met that are religious wonder how I get through life without god.

People need to be taught that there are other methods to cope.
