Has anyone gone to their Bank yet and told them they "got a memo from Dipshit Donnie saying 'I don't have to pay my mortgage'"?
How'd that work out?
Anyone taken their "get out of rent free" Monopoly Card to their landlord?
How about employers? How many of them have decided not to withhold Social Security and Medicare taxes just "willy-nilly"?
That brings up an important point!
Sometimes you can learn something from a Dipshit!
Ignorance makes the use of language so important. Frank Lunz is a fucking evil Dipshit, but he does know his audience.
It's time to STOP referring to this as "the Payroll Tax" and begin referring to it as "The Social Security and Medicare Fund"

(10,303 posts)And they are National Insurance Contributions. It's probably called a "tax" in the USA to keep it constitutional - as they did with the ACA Healthcare Insurance penalty (which the R's simply zeroed out).

(4,483 posts)I don't understand why every time Trump mentions this "tax reduction"--*every time*--a Democrat in congress doesn't call a news conference and point out that what Payroll Tax pays for is SS and Medicare. How many aging Republicans would support this tax cut?
And out of the other side of his mouth, Trump swears not to interfere with Social Security. How the hell do these idiots think SS is funded?

(15,334 posts)I guess we assume that Americans don't get their entertainment from the "Idiot Box", or have the time in our busy lives to do nuance.
So, even when Democrats rightly push back on this stupid shit, we use the Retrumplicans stupid language.
Look, I like that Dems don't treat people like idiots. It's one of the things that makes the Democratic Party appeal to me... BUT
When talking about the funding of an important and WILDLY POPULAR program like Social Security and Medicare, Dems don't need to adopt Retrumplican Talking Points!
Stop referring to this as the Payroll Tax. Start to over and over again refer to it as "Social Security and Medicare Funding".

(4,166 posts)That is the phrase I finally used to drill in my explanation on the consequences of the Payroll Tax hiatus, working people are going to get slammed in the long run. Shit, she doesn't even look at her pay stub or save any of them! FICA, what's that?
