Postal Service union president: 'We've never seen anything like this even in a Christmas rush'

https://www.rawstory.com/2020/08/postal-union-president-weve-never-seen-anything-like-this-even-in-a-christmas-rush/

Mark Dimondstein, president of the American Postal Workers Union, told shocking stories from members about mail being intentionally delayed by higher-ups.

Speaking to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Dimondstein explained that things like cutting back hours, changing transportation and cutting back on transportation of the mail, and other problems are intentional efforts to make it more difficult for people to ensure their votes are counted on Election Day.

“All these policies are slowing down the mail,” he said. “We’re hearing that throughout the country, from workers. I got a photograph today of packages that have a date sitting in a processing plant, sortation plant of August 7th, and the pictures was taken this morning August 16th. Those packages have never been sorted. We’ve never seen anything like this, even in a Christmas rush. So, the workers are very troubled. Our DNA as postal workers is to never delay, treat the mail as if it was our own, serve customers, live by the law that says ‘prompt, reliable and efficient services.’ So, it’s very troubling to postal workers that we should be delaying the mail.”

He said that he’s obviously not included in the conversations by political leaders, but that there is a general belief that it’s politically motivated.

3. Trump and Putin achieved their goal

They uncut the nation's trust in one of its most respected institutions.

It's only one of many tactics they're unleashing to destroy the election and seize power.

While it's obviously a travesty that needs to be addressed, it seems like slowing down the mail here is kinda beside the point -- the real goal is to create chaos, and sow doubt and distrust in an American institution.

It makes it easier for Trump to claim that there cannot be a clear winner after the election (which he is pretty much guaranteed to do) and that therefore he should remain president.

It's about slowing down the mail, but just like his tweet today stating that you can't trust ballot drop-offs either because you don't know who's counting the ballots, the real goal is undermining democracy itself.

5. And of course these thugs the republicans and trump are the scumbags that thought of

doing such a despicable and dirty thing such as tampering w/ our mail, making the process political and partisan.

Never, never ever again will republicans ever control a House of Congress, or the WH. Where are these missing in action republican senators?

And there are numerous things that were supposed to provide oversight of the scumbag in the WH, all ignored or dismissed, agencies which should never be subject to partisan activities are in fact, being subjected to such, incompetent attorneys (if this is even true) have been appointed to federal benches in the circuit/appeals courts process, trade industry representatives have been appointed in charge of, ironically enough, the federal agencies responsible for their industries' regulations and / or oversight. This should be beefed up and no partisan efforts should ever be allowed to touch these areas unless voted on by all Americans, no more the partisan Senate which has done absolutely nothing.

Ironically enough, I suspect republican voters will be negatively harmed far more due to them living in more rural areas (and imho taking advantage of having prescriptions mailed to their homes).

At least the scumbags started doing this crap already, and we can take advantage of remaining time to the elections to stress that ...

6. It's Going To Be The Postal Workers That Trump Will Place Blame On....
Mon Aug 17, 2020, 11:29 AM

They shouldn't have to shoulder the blame for something he and DeJoy have plotted to happen.

I say give them a taste of their own medicine. Threaten to strike unless they reverse all the tampering and damage they've already done to USPS.

If they refuse to take action - then go ahead with a strike. Shut it down. Trump and DeJoy have the power to stop this and if they don't then we clearly know what their intentions are. It would reflect badly on both of them and such a strike would he ended quickly.

We need to stand up to these bully's.

Thank God it's only August. A threatened strike or a strike - settled fast would stop their actions cold and soon enough where we would be able to be ready for the Nov. onslaught of mail-in ballots.

We can see how what Trump and DeJoy are pissing off the dedicated Postal Workers of this country. We need them to come thru for us now.

8. Then We'll Need To Put More Postal Workers On The Job....
Mon Aug 17, 2020, 11:38 AM

to get the mail processed and out.

Screw the extra dollars it would take to do that.

Either we believe in the sanctity in our Right To Vote or we surrender our beliefs to these criminals that want to destroy our Democracy.

This is a watershed issue in our country. We can't let Trump, DeJoy and the Repugs bully us with their criminality.

14. The investigative committees need to legislate that the piece of mail MUST be date postmarked
Mon Aug 17, 2020, 01:18 PM
Aug 2020

the day it is received (with charges that result in jail and huge fines for USPS administrators who allow it to be delayed, or who alter the actual date that is being stamped, and huge rewards for any postal employee that documents that it is, in fact, happening), and then ALL ballots marked on or before the date of the election WILL BE COUNTED.

There is NOTHING that says legitimate votes can NOT be counted. That is bullshit. That is EXACTLY like 2000, when they insisted that they MUST STOP COUNTING THE VOTES because George W Bush would be harmed if they continued.

We let them get away with it once, we would be idiots if we allowed it to happen again.

It should be relatively easy to make sure that all ballots are secure, with armed guards if necessary. With video records of the guards.

We can then summon the patience to NOT know the results until ALL the ballots are counted.

10. I'll say it again. The PO handles 5 BILLION Christmas items every year. The US has 350 million

people. At MOST that means 200 million voters, and that's really an unlikely large number.

A tiny fraction of the Christmas load that the PO handles each and every year with no problem whatsoever.

11. I am anticipating a huge turnout by USPS workers and their families
Mon Aug 17, 2020, 12:48 PM
Aug 2020

and highly suspect they won't vote for #45.

I heard from a caller to either Hartmann or Stephanie either a current or retired postal worker that several Post Offices in the Philly area were going to have picketing this past week. Since it isn't a strike, workers will not be impacted and it is something that retired USPS workers can easily do.
