Predictable. 130 cases in 1 week. Theyre going full remote and encouraging students to leave campus.

(2,052 posts)and, while the best choice given current circumstances, this is my nightmare. Bring them together, infect them, and send them back to parents and communities all over the state and country.

(2,052 posts)My inarticulate point was that putting college kids together to be college kids in places with community spread and then sending them home when the totally predictable happens seems like a bad idea.
Keep them home to begin with. That they are partying and getting infected can't come as a surprise to anyone.

(65,076 posts)At that rate of infection, the US would have had 5 million cases in 4 weeks, instead of 4 months. Extrapolating this rate to the 4.5 months, the US would have 23 million confirmed cases.
130 cases in a week? Wow!

It was going to finally happen this week... not any more, I'm guessing.

(42,571 posts)They were asking all students to not have any parties and to quarantine themselves for 14 days before returning to class. Over 50,000 students. Over 80% live off campus. Absolutely ludicrous.
