The Angst Over The DNCC Speaker List

I understand the continued disgust over the results of 2016.
But, let's put recent history into perspective.
The Democratic party has managed to win the popular vote in six of the last seven presidential elections. They helped engineer the retaking of the House, twice.
I know, I know the EC..... But, PINO won because a total of 57,000 people in 4 states got suckered.
The people running this campaign & convention are the same people that have managed an 85%+ success rate over the last 28 years.
Bridging the middle with a few R PINO haters seems a wise strategy, Kasich's big mouth about AOC notwithstanding.
I think we need to show a little trust that the organizers have a cogent strategy to capture that mushy middle by bashing the idiot usurper.

I don't either, and we won't.
Quite frankly, nothing anybody says at the whole convention is going to affect what I'm doing November 3. I'm certain it's the same with you.
That crowd isn't there for us. We're not the audience!
The audience is that malleable center who voted for Obama in '08&'12, but went PINO in '16.
They're obviously subject to persuasion and if they hear a message from Rs saying biden is the only choice, it may be a wise move.
We only need a little over 100,000 of them in 3 or 4 states & the EC oddity is a non issue.

Biden looks to win the rust belt so far. I'm hoping for him and Kamala to win by a good ten points, but that may be hopeful thinking.

I want the repubs squashed like bugs on a windshield. A strong blue wave would be amazing.

Former campaign aides call for Bloomberg to be pulled from DNC program

(CNN)A group of former staffers to Michael Bloomberg's presidential campaign are calling on Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez to remove him from the slate of Democratic convention speakers, using an open letter to lambast the former New York mayor's treatment of his campaign staff.

Since Bloomberg's failed presidential campaign ended, a series of staffers have sued the billionaire politician, alleging that they were promised jobs on the campaign would be guaranteed through November. But, these staffers say, when Bloomberg's campaign ended after Super Tuesday, those promises were not fulfilled for numerous staffers and scores of people were terminated and encouraged to apply to jobs at the DNC, which had received a transfer of $18 million from the Bloomberg campaign to fund battleground efforts.

The staffers, in their letter to Perez, say that while they understand the need for a big tent Democratic Party, they "do not believe that there is a place on the convention stage for people like Mike Bloomberg who make a mockery of workers' rights -- a fundamental value that unites all Democrats."

"This is the type of greedy, anti-worker move we'd expect from Donald Trump, but not from a Democratic presidential candidate," reads the letter, which comes from six staffers -- Alexis Sklair, Sterling Rettke, Nathaniel Brown, Brian Giles, Jocelyn Reynolds and Caryn Austen -- all of whom are party to a suit against Bloomberg over the employment matter. "The Democratic Party and its platform strongly oppose the immoral and unfair things that Mike Bloomberg did to thousands of his staffers during his presidential campaign."

Your staffers should be your strongest supporters.

Enjoy the convention, I'm just glad the NBA playoffs are on. Go Raptors!

The $275 million includes spending on television, social media and "outdoor" ads, which included billboards in primary states and cities where Trump was holding rallies. The campaign says it spent $225 million of that total on television, including $45 million that went toward national ads and $175 million in battleground states. On social media platforms including Facebook and YouTube, Bloomberg spent $49.6 million. And over $600,000 made up "outdoor" advertising spending

During his three months in the race, Bloomberg rejected all donations to his campaign, entirely self-funding the operation from his own personal wealth, which Forbes estimates at around $60 billion. Advertising Analytics said the former New York City mayor spent $558 million on ads during his time in the race.

That's what you see, here?
I see them using these people. They don't have to accept them to use them.
We can still disagree with their philosophy. I do. I don't like Kasich.
But, I can compartmentalize the overall goal from the immediate need.
You left the party because of support for women's rights?
How do you think things will work out if PINO squeaks out another win we could have prevented.
I refuse to sacrifice good on the altar of perfect.
Doing so leads to things like an idiot conman ending up in the WH.

Chasing imaginary undecided votes at this point is grasping at straws. I just think shoring the base is more practical.

I'm watching the playoffs, too. That 3 pointer by Embiid was ridiculous.

Lots of folks need to relax. Having someone from the opposing party endorse you at the convention is universally considered a good "get." A candidate like Biden who has Bernie Sanders AND John Kasich speaking for him? Must be doing something right.

It's a good thing that Democratic Party strategy is not set by a lot of the people whose comments I read on this site.
