Hernando High School reports first COVID-19 case in first week of school

https://www.wmcactionnews5.com/2020/08/19/hernando-high-school-reports-first-covid-case-first-week-school/

HERNANDO, Miss. (WMC) - Hernando High School reported its first COVID-19 case Wednesday morning. This comes after DeSoto County Schools welcomed students back on Monday.

The school did not specify if the individual was a student or teacher but said parents with a child in the class have been notified.

Officials with Hernando High say the Mississippi State Department of Health also contacted anyone who had close contact with the individual and issued instructions for quarantine.

Nothing more at link. Not closing school?

In a hybrid model despite our town being the hotspot of our county and just about every other surrounding large district doing virtual at least for the first few weeks of school. Was reading on the website last nite-school board says if a child tests positive they will proceed with tracing and the kids (& parents)/teachers/staff determined to be affected will be notified but classes and teachers will not be asked to quarantine. What?? Sooo if the sick kid sits in a classroom all day with his cohort how can the entire class not be exposed? And not be expected to quarantine? I’m just not getting this.
