It just goes to show that you can spend a fortune on props, balloons and razzmatazz, but they only distract from the main important issues. Being a political junkie and not an American, I have been glued to the screen from the beginning of the first day until now. I'm very much looking forward to watching tomorrow's show.

(40,219 posts)The Democrats should scrape the traditional convention and save themselves 10s upon 10s of millions of dollars. What they have done this week has been genius.
I am quite surprised by how much I have been enjoying these virtual convention nights, I thought I would miss the pep rally style but I don't at all.

(497 posts)and so far has gone off quite seamlessly. On the other hand, Trump has been mucking the Republicans around, wanting a big stadium crowded with morons. Having gone off that idea at the last minute because of the Trump Virus, they have to create a virtual convention and they have no likable people to invite.

(12,904 posts)Everything seems in focus to me. You can watch the speakers eyes, and see their expressions. The videos and endorsements from everyday people are extraordinary.
I love the video format.

(7,422 posts)That counts for a lot in our contemporary culture. Without all the pauses for cheering and ovations that stretch out the standard speech to twice its length or more, they can get to the stuff that matters. The idea of a night in the old-style clocking in at 2:15 would be unheard of.
And let's face it: there was little drama anymore in the old style. The tickets, other than VP pick, were decided months beforehand.

(24,570 posts)The whole GOP is built for show, not substance. Are they going to do 4 nights of people showing off their AR-15's? Or maybe they'll invite all of the Karen's and Kens to talk about the plandemic. Or maybe Jerry Falwell and the other folks in the God Industry will tell the audience about how the Democrats hate God.
I really cannot image how they will fill their convention time for 4 days of testimonials in support of Trump.

(497 posts)Its hard to imagine who they could invite to endorse their policies. Trump couldn't even find any decent entertainment for his inauguration ball and that was BEFORE he turned the country into a "shit hole".
I know it sounds weird but wouldn't it absolutely hit it out of the park if the Democrats had George W come in on the last night and endorse Biden.

(6,611 posts)I've tried to watch conventions in the past but OMG what a circus.
However - this virtual convention is absolutely awesome.
Instead of chaos, there's quiet dignty.
Kudos.... what an AWESOME job!

(30,755 posts)and they will fall on their fat, greedy faces. Trump will stumble, ramble and slur his way through a vituperative speech.
