I probably should, just to keep up with what the con artists and bigots and oligarchs are up to, but I just don't think I'll be able to stomach it.

I might just skip it and watch the late night talk shows responses to it each night.

(15,389 posts)But all in all it was an impressive feat with a lot of praise for making it entertaining and informative while showcasing the big tent that is the democratic party. I'm wondering if the RNC will try to copy some of it, and I'm particularly interested in:
1. The presentation of the delegates. Democrats did great showing all kinds of people, some speaking Spanish and others their land's native language but still coming off as American. Republicans DO have non-white voters, but will the higher-ups feature them to the degree DNC did.
2. After Obama's speech, some pundits on PBS talked about how different a speech it was. It was more coherent, more stay on message, etc. because it wasn't a typical convention speech written to have applause lines where the speaker mentions something democrats support and then has to wait for the applause to die down. Kamala and Biden's were much the same way. Will Trump attempt to copy Joe and give a speech without supporters in the room or wherever in an attempt to appear to have some gravitas? I doubt it, but if he does, his speech will have applause lines in it that will seem awkward and out of place.

(9,988 posts)I expect to see a lot of awkwardness, technical difficulties, terrible music, endless stiff white guys except for a few tokens, with the usual racism, misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia, scientific ignorance, utter callousness about lives lost, greed, and baseless personal attacks. It won't be an enjoyable show on any level.
I think I'll hold out for the blooper reel on YouTube. The inevitable dropped feeds and tech fuckups, and of course someone using racial slurs when they thought they were off-camera, or somebody with porn in the background on their Zoom feed or what have you.
reconsider, we need to know

(16,616 posts)and listen to people make fun of the RNC Convention. I've developed an aversion to hearing Trump's voice, even brief clips of him speaking, or hearing reporters treat him with even a modicum of respect.
But maybe if it seems to be going really, terribly badly--to the point that it is unintentionally hilarious--I might check in on it.
I'll also read the posts here at DU about it, from you brave souls who can stomach it!
