As a former Republican, I want to thank the Democrats for all the decency & hope I saw this week.
And as a former Republican, I want to condemn the Republicans for all the fear & loathing I will see next week.

(53,061 posts)3. That was Joe Wilson
Joe Walsh did apologize to Pres Obama for spreading rumors about him and called him a "gentleman".
He became one of the loudest Trump critics (after initially endorsing him).
Driving in the desert about 18 months ago I caught his radio show and he called Trump a traitor, liar, con man, cheat for 90 minutes.
He ran in the Republican primary against Trump.

(83,854 posts)5. It was Joe Wilson that said that.
Wilson said later in a statement:
This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President's remarks regarding the coverage of undocumented immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President's statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.[45]
