5. Nobody on DU needs me to tell them, but I'll say it anyway. Trump WILL announce

a treatment/cure AND a prevention/vaccine both of which will the FDA will authorize/approve prior to election day. Trump WILL use those opportunities to claim he fixed covid, and take a fucking victory lap.

FDA's complicity/cooperation will be a decision made entirely for Trump's personal political considerations, by political appointees, over the objections of the career scientists at the FDA, or not even over them just flat out sidelining them or ignoring them like they don't exist. The normal procedures and rules will not be followed, solely and explicitly because the election provides a deadline. There is no time to wait for legitimate progress, so it must be generated absent of real evidence.

claims is in fact true. Most Americans have been burned too many times by him, that is why a solid 55-65% seem to always doubt anything that he says. If he gets caught in a big lie a month or less before the election, Joe most likely defeats him by double digits.
