Is it a phone thing? My laptop shows misspellings, but doesn't change words on its own.

I use a Kindle. I have tried to turn off Autocorrect, but it won't turn off. I *was* able

Yes, Spellcheck. If there's an Autocorrect program on this laptop, I certainly wouldn't turn it on!

The Kindle comes with it turned on, but the turnoff button doesn't actually turn it off. nt

reason, replaced by "O More," which doesn't even make sense! You'd think Kindle would recognize "Kindle." But in this post "Kindle" didn't cause a problem.
