NY-01: New DCCC Polling: Goroff Edges Past Zeldin in NY-01 Race
resh DCCC polling released this morning in New York Playbook shows scientist Nancy Goroff leading Lee Zeldin by 2 points (48-46), with Vice President Biden leading President Trump by 6 points (51-45). It is notable that the poll shows Biden above 50% in a district President Trump won by 12 points in 2016.
In a sign that voters have soured on Trump, 56% of respondents disapprove of the president’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
The live caller survey, conducted August 5-10, polled 400 likely November general election voters with a margin of error of ±4.9 percentage points.

FIRST IN PLAYBOOK: Democratic challenger Nancy Goroff could give Rep. Lee Zeldin a run for his money in New York’s 1st Congressional District, according to new polling from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Goroff led Zeldin by 2 points (48-46) in an Aug. 5-10 survey of 400 likely November general election voters in the district. The poll, which has a margin of error of ±4.9 percentage points, also showed Vice President Biden ahead of President Trump by 6 points (51-45).
Last week Cook Political Report shifted the race in Democrats’ favor, a sign of the growing strength of Goroff’s campaign.
