I just ripped into a relative who was posting online about Unity-2020, which I'd never even heard of, along with the usual "both major party candidates are the same" bullshit that really set me off. Is this another right wing scheme to siphon votes from Joe Biden, or is it just someone who's sincere but a bit misguided? One of their so-called primary candidates is Andrew Yang, I have to wonder if he even realizes he's listed as such (since he just spoke at the Democratic Convention in support of Joe).

(6,028 posts)This relative is so disillusioned with both parties being the same, that they're going to vote for a unity ticket scam that is going to somehow recruit members of both parties (without their consent) What exactly are they upset about again?

(11,974 posts)In the past he's come out and said that we can't afford to reelect tRump, so I was taken aback with this 3rd party shit. He was a big Andrew Yang fan in the primary, so my guess is that he's rebelling against the fact that Yang wasn't the nominee.
I hate to admit it, but I made the mistake of voting third party one time and helped elect Bush. NEVER AGAIN, I've totally learned the error in my ways and it just totally pisses me off when others start making the same mistake. I'm sure that a large part of the problem when they claim that both parties are the same is a huge lack of information.

(26,132 posts)whatever the underlying reason, simply don't understand to what extent they are wasting their vote. Especially since the various third parties never try to elect anyone at a grassroots level.
