Ad times are split between the network and the local provider. MSNBC has no control over some of the ads you see.

Probably a quarter to a third of the ads are the provider.
Often you can tell, because just before programming resumes, a commercial end, then we see the last couple seconds of a different commercial.
The prior ad has to be from the provider because the network knows when they're going to restart the program.
