We’re safe in New Orleans. But we’re sorry for Florida, they shouldn’t have hosted the Trump boat parade. ETTD.

It's still raining but here in Kingston/St Andrew we didn't have much wind. It has been raining for close to 16 hours - heavy at times with lightning and thunder. Haven't heard local news yet so I don't know if there has been flooding or damage. On the other hand we really need the rain.

made landfall on a Monday morning.

I was trolling Rethugs on message boards - Why doesn't Bush part the waters?

After about 10 refrains one of them piped up - Why don't you just shut up? because they had no answer. Recall Bush popularity was about at its peak prior to Katrina and the "Heckuva job, Brownie" moment.

Then I went to get gas. Only regular was available, and it was up about 30 cents. I made 2 trips, had enough for a month. It was prudent planning as not much was available for a bit.

Katrina and COVID .... acts of God himself ... but not electing Democratic majorities we are running risks and becoming reliant on Divine Intervention. We must pick up the pace and perform better as a country.

but we share the same relief at the end result

Hurricane Katrina was a large Category 5 Atlantic hurricane which caused over 1,200 deaths and $125 billion in damage in August 2005, particularly in the city of New Orleans and the surrounding areas. It was at the time the costliest tropical cyclone on record, and is now tied with 2017's Hurricane Harvey. The storm was the third major hurricane of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season, and the fourth-most intense Atlantic hurricane on record to make landfall in the contiguous United States.

Katrina originated on August 23, 2005 as a tropical depression from the merger of a tropical wave and the remnants of Tropical Depression Ten. Early the following day, the depression intensified into a tropical storm as it headed generally westward toward Florida, strengthening into a hurricane two hours before making landfall at Hallandale Beach on August 25. After briefly weakening to tropical storm strength over southern Florida, Katrina emerged into the Gulf of Mexico on August 26 and began to rapidly intensify. The storm strengthened into a Category 5 hurricane over the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico[3] before weakening to Category 3 strength at its second landfall on August 29 over southeast Louisiana and Mississippi.

We live in San Antonio

There has never been a "hurricane " in San Antonio. We've had tropical storms, feeder bands, remnants etc. But we've never had a hurricane
