So I attribute 80% of the cases and deaths to President Turd's deliberate amplification of the pandemic.
i.e. 1/5th of the cases would be "normal;" same as the average country (including undeveloped countries with little public health capability). 4/5ths (80%) are due to Turd.

A QUARTER OF A MILLION AMERICANS!

BTW it sure seems like those numbers are now highly manipulated.
Cases per day have fallen from nearly 75,000 a couple of weeks ago to @ 45,000 today. Texas and Florida's number look especially suspect.

Deaths remain nearly constant at @1,000/day - also suspect. Couple of weeks ago it was @ 1,500 a day (or 1 per minute at 1440 minutes in a day).

Excess deaths over last year in the US last I saw was nearing 250,000 already.

It will be well over 200,000 deaths by election day - And yes these are low numbers.

My kids' schools are opening with a "blended" approach next week and I am struggling with allowing them to go to the campus at all. In my gut I KNOW that there is going to be an outbreak and that the schools will be virtual-only before September 15th at the latest. They are begging to go but for all the wrong reasons - they want to feel 'normal', they miss their friends and they are sick of being locked in the house all the time.

It is agonizing and I can't afford an exposure with my medical history, nor can my wife. Our odds are not the "99% recovery" kind (especially when you factor in chronic conditions that plague some survivors).

I attended a HS football scrimmage on Friday, briefly. I lasted 19 plays and less than 30 minutes total before I fled the scene, aghast at what was happening. They had social distancing guidelines in place, restricted access to the field and seats to only 2 parents of the children participating and no one would be admitted without a mask. I went because my son is a Senior this year and he has been playing for 10 years in pee-wee ball through today. I am almost positive that will be the entirety of his senior season and the last time he ever suits up in pads for a game (like millions of others, he is not going to play in college or beyond). But, I could not stay...people almost immediately stopped following the seating rules and violating the 6' of distance rules. Worse, the "mandatory masks" were either pulled down under the nose or simply removed by dozens of people in the stands. I had positioned myself in an isolated portion of the stands and had my mask and distance and outdoor air blowing away, but it was heartbreaking.

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) will continue to rampage America this fall and winter and the ONLY chance of containing it is being lost. By the time we have real leadership, and something like a national plan in place in late-January, I fear the deaths will be north of 350-500 thousand people and the long term dammage will be immeasurable. People not willing to simply wear masks and follow distancing guidelines to preserve the hope of their children getting to participate in a sport they love has proved it to me.

The lack of respect for science and expertise in favor of "owning libs" (actually over-heard that tired trope again) and following a political identity agenda has overtaken common sense and simple compassion. Its heartbreaking, but its real - this country is going to keep learning this painful lesson in blood and family until something drastic changes.

It is still hard to believe that 180,000+ dead Americans in 5 months, a total that will soon be over 200,000 has not stopped the idiocy of the anti virus groups and that the GOP, their base plus the media seem to be alright with this. It is sickening.

You are correct. In my mind this is the only thing that matters. I have said for a longtime that DT was not the worst president ever. That he was still not as bad as Bush Jr. Bush Jr. killed thousands of Americans and perhaps a million or more Iraqi/Muslims with the 2003 invasion of Iraqi for what appears to be mostly personal reasons. Bush Jr. will always be and go down in history as one of the worst presidents ever because of this alone no need to add in torture, global economic collapse, dropping the ball on security, Katrina.

DT has now surpassed Busk Jr. The complete carnage DT has done to America on all fronts now capped off with 180k going on 200k dead Americans put him solidly in the worst president ever column. His Immigration policies, Emoluments violations, soon to be economic crash and anti-intellect all take second place to the callousness that DT has displayed in his COVID 19 response. Hopefully Justice will eventually catch up to him. History will rightly be ruthless to DT and his criminal incompetence during his time in office. The trump name and everything associated with it will be viewed with disdain and wiped from the present as were the names of certain Pharaohs in ancient Egypt by all who heard it except a small few who will never be able to admit they duped by a conman.

Lastly the GOP must be held accountable for what they have done. They must be voted out of the majority in the Legislative and Executive branches. They could have stopped this madness but chose party over country in February, clearly violating the Oath they take. Specifically though over the last 20 yrs the GOP has brought one disaster after another to America. Starting with the abject failure of security in Sept 2001 to the coming 2nd economic crash due to the Pandemic. GOP Senators/members must step up and try to reverse the wild swing to the far right fringe and claw back some sanity/maturity if the GOP is to survive. The embrace by the GOP of “Q” and other irrational groups is a recipe for disaster for us all. If they can’t do this then the party must be disbanded and new party based in reason/reality brought together. What they are now and moving to cannot be allowed to continue and flourish...

/end vent.
Thanks.

Despite all those tragic numbers, %42-%47 of voters will vote for Trump anyway. These people are either stupid, RW sheep, apathetic, ignorant, evil, selfish, racist, sexist, homophobic, single issue voters (probably against abortion), or posses multiple traits.

Some of these people believe that W was good for the economy and Obama was bad for the economy. Don’t be fooled into believing that you can appeal to their reason, because they have none...and their numbers are excessive. One can only believe that the media/etc is creating a horse race if they also have faith in the intelligent of half of American’s voters.
