How much more of this are we suppose to take?

Protests erupt after Kenosha police shoot Black man

In a video, three officers could be seen shouting and pointing their weapons at the man. As the man opened the driver’s side door and leaned inside, one officer grabbed his shirt from behind and then fired into the vehicle.

By Associated Press Updated Aug 24, 2020, 7:58am CDT

KENOSHA, Wis. — Police in Kenosha shot and wounded a Black man, apparently in the back, after responding to a call about a domestic dispute, setting off a night of protests and unrest in which officers fired tear gas and demonstrators apparently hurled objects back at them and set fire to parked cars.

The shooting happened about 5 p.m. Sunday and was captured on cellphone video that was posted online. In that clip, which was taken from across the street, the Black man, who was later referred to by the governor as Jacob Blake, walks from the sidewalk around the front of his SUV to his driver-side door as officers follow him with their guns pointed and shout at him. As Blake opens the door and leans into the SUV, an officer grabs his shirt from behind and opens fire while Blake has his back turned.

Seven shots can be heard, though it isn’t clear how many struck Blake or how many of the three officers who were at the scene fired shots. During the shooting, a Black woman can be seen screaming in the street and jumping up and down.

Blake was taken to a Milwaukee hospital and was in serious condition, the police department said in a news release which didn’t refer to him by name. The three officers were placed on administrative leave, as is standard practice in any officer-involved shooting

There is no bottom with these people. Just like with Trump. The only thing they know how to do well is double-down on wrong.

Now that the police unions are reassured by Trump, I worry all the time.

Perhaps we should vet them better and pay the good ones more. I am not at all about "defunding the police, but about defunding and demilitarizing bad cops.

Have a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
The idea that cops are better than everyone else has to go.
If the only tools they have are intimidation and violence, they will use them.
I think this is why we have this problem.
A hammer has one function and only fixes specific problems.
Anyone can use a hammer.
If you gave me, as a mechanic, only one wrench I would realize that I couldn't
do the job, and I would quit.
The ones that don't are not fit for the job.

It is a great job for true sadists and serial killers.

Why take the risks of going solo when there is a system set up to support your requirements? Gosh, even the dead bodies are taken care of for you. No muss, no fuss and no laborious cleanup.

You get to do what satisfies you and with pay and benefits and most of all protection. It just requires a little patience as you wait for a good target to be available.

that is attracting more racist violent people. That system almost guarantees full immunity. You saw the NY police union come out strong for Trump? How many more police unions will do that?

Trump Gave Police Permission to Be Brutal
The president didn’t cause America’s policing crisis, but he deliberately made it worse.
