'Mind-bogglingly irresponsible': meet the Republican donors helping QAnon reach Congress

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/aug/24/mind-bogglingly-irresponsible-meet-the-republican-donors-helping-qanon-reach-congress

Republican party leaders linked to the White House helped boost the primary campaign of a QAnon supporter with a history of making racist and bigoted statements, campaign finance filings show.

Marjorie Taylor Greene’s victory in the 11 August primary runoff for Georgia’s 14th Congressional district all but assures that a backer of the baseless and antisemitic QAnon conspiracy theory will be elected to Congress in November. Her primary opponent, John Cowan, ran as a pro-Trump, pro-life, and pro-gun conservative.

The filings reveal donations from:

groups connected to White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and his wife,

the chairman of the board of prominent conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation,

the attorney who represented “Covington Kid” Nicholas Sandmann in defamation suits against the Washington Post and CNN,

and multiple Republican mega-donors.

Meadows was given the opportunity to disavow or denounce QAnon in multiple television interviews on Sunday, but he demurred, claiming not to know what it was.

When you consider that the proposed outcome of the QAnon conspiracy theory group is "The Storm", it looks like it is not only disruptive, but could be very dangerous if it continues to influence the mainstream.

When unhinged fear and projected paranoia are allowed to proliferate, what would you expect? However, not only are the QAnon devotees way, way off mark about what's really going on and what needs to be looked into and, if possible, fixed, they are also on a track towards persecution and even genocide from what I gather in their "manifesto".

However, it's the perfect companion to a totalitarian, Fascist leader as we have seen in the past. However, this time, they are generating their own delusional enemies, (well, if you don't count the person who is doing a 4-Chan meme that really caught on and is probably laughing hysterically at the gullible marks taking the bait and believing it.) and the authoritarian narcissist only has to latch on and take cues from them now, having created the environment for all sorts of confusion, mayhem, racism, ect.
