The View from the Tenderloin

The View from the Tenderloin

There is too much going on at once, so I'm gonna keep this local. My planter box occupies a good part of my day, and thoughts. I realized today that I've been looking at it as a piece of art. Everyday, when I go down to putz around, I do some thinning. I call it thinning, but it's actually sculpting. Over the course of days, the piece is evolving. As the flowers start to pop from the Cosmos, Stalk plants, Carpet of Snow, Snap Dragons etc. that process will only accelerate. It's magic, and therapy all rolled into one. It's priceless.

I'm going to talk a bit about the fires in wine country, as that too, alas, is local. The air here in SF is toxic, and as much as I love being outside, it's not a good idea. Healdsburg is being evacuated as we speak, and to me, that is unimaginable. God help them.

Hold those dear to you close

The whole garden is stunning. There have to be something like a hundred boxes. Taken as a whole, it's quite nice. I'd post a foto but I don't know how to do it on this platform..

is also covered in wildfire smoke. It is depressing. Enjoy your planter box in little bits and stay safe.

My dogs, however, can't take more that 10 minutes around the block or a quick trip across the street, around the DeYoung, and back.
Would love to see pics of your plants. We're keeping our plants dusted and watered, but I haven't seen any birds for over a week now.

I'm south of market, and I've been limiting myself to walks around the block, which I do every time I go down to putz in the garden. These yearly fires are a nightmare for all involved, and I imagine it's only gonna get worse.
