(1,151 posts)OOOOOOH I love elephants so much. I cried like a baby the first time I saw one in the wild.

(1,151 posts)When I was on safari a few years ago I couldn't stop watching them interact with each other, and it seemed so easy to understand their communications and their deep love for one another.
One time there was group of about 10 ellies by the side of the road so our driver stopped and let us observe. There was one mama who had a baby and a "tween." The mama crossed the road behind our truck for some tasty morsel she spotted (paying no attention to us but we could have reached out to touch her). The tween followed, but the baby got scared to cross the road. The baby started to cry, the mama quietly rumbled, and the tweenI SWEAR TO MAUDE-rolled her eyes and stomped back across the road and pushed her little sister across. It was so delightful and so amazing. I wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. I was too enchanted to think about filming it unfortunately.

I would've had the same reaction. Curses to people who kill them.

(1,151 posts)my life, hands down. If I had the means to support myself, I would go back and spend the rest of my life helping them. Words cannot describe how much I love them. Conversely, words cannot describe how much I loathe people who kill them.
The world needs more folks with the passion and compassion you have!! People with empathy make the planet a better place.
