Why, republicans, Why?
What I posted on FB tonight...
It's official. Donald Trump has completely taken over the republican party so much so that there is no party platform. Nothing about being pro-life, pro-Christian and all the other things republicans like to declare as a reason for being a republican.
Instead, it's all about Trump. All of it. The republican party is nothing but a cult of personality.
They don't care that Trump refuses to confront Putin about putting bounties on the heads of our military serving overseas. They don't care that he continues to tout a medication designed for diseases like lupus and malaria that does more harm than good to covid patients.
The party of pro-life does not care about the over 170K people that have died in the last six months. They'll scream and pound their fists about abortion, but not a single word about the tens of thousands of deaths.
If Obama had done even a tenth of Trump's depravity and immorality, the repubs and Dems would be shoving him out the door as quickly as possible.
What just boggles the mind is that this is supposedly a Godly party, a party of Lincoln and they don't hesitate to ignore the very ungodly acts that Trump has committed during his tenure.
Even before that, he bragged about grabbing women by the crotch against their will. They still voted for him!
How in the world can people who call themselves republicans and Americans support someone whose very deeds and words go against everything they stand for?
Just how? How do they pray to God with a clear heart?
What is it about Trump that lets them forget their morals and religion? He sews division, he race-baits, he denigrates women and anyone else who has the audacity to speak out.
What makes even less sense, is that any negative story, no matter how benign it might be, is fake in their eyes. It's a lie. There are thousands of newspapers, tens of thousands of reporters that report all across the spectrum. It doesn't matter who good the source is, how much evidence there is and even when someone testifies under oath as a first hand witness, it still doesn't matter.
Tens of thousands dead, the economy in shambles, no American can travel outside the country with the exception of a few countries, our military under constant threat because of Trump's weakness, the United States being the worst rated in handling covid-19, leaders around the world are laughing at us and feeling sorry for us, dictators are lauded as great by Trump, the republican led investigation found the so-called Russian hoax to not be a hoax at all, and lastly a president who only thinks of himself and what benefits himself who will trash veterans, their families and any other honest American who stands up to him.
The list is very long beginning with how he profits from his office to making ridiculous declarations that Joe Biden wants to destroy the suburbs. There is never such a thing as too much rhetoric in his eyes. He's shown he'll say anything, no matter how vile it might be if it means he benefits from it.
He's plainly said that it's okay for him to vote by mail, but no one else can outside of Florida. He's stated publicly that if he loses, it's because the election is rigged. Can we say sore loser?
He's been known to cheat at golf, he has a string of bankruptcies under his belt, he's not paid loans or creditors, he's stiffed working people out of their earnings, he's been sued and forced to settle out of court.
I haven't even talked about the racism that has dogged him since his days back in New York City and he continues to use to sew division.
These are all facts that are easily checked. They all have multiple sources backing them up. He's openly admitted to many of them including paying off a porn star.
If you've been with me this long, thank you. I apologize that this is so long, but I honestly don't get it. Despite the mounds of evidence, his own words and actions, he's proven himself to be untrustworthy, incompetent and devoid of empathy.
So what is it, republicans? What is it that keeps you devoted to such a person?
Anyone? Anyone?

I don't expect much of an answer, if any at all. But sometimes, I just ask why because I don't get it.
