https://www.speaker.gov/newsroom/82420-0Pelosi Statement on Devastating Social Security Consequences of Trumps Threat to Terminate Payroll Tax
Washington, D.C. Speaker Nancy Pelosi released this statement after the Social Security Administration chief actuary released an analysis finding that if President Trump achieved his threat to terminate the payroll tax, the Social Security Disability Insurance Trust Fund would be exhausted by mid-2021 and the Social Security Old Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund would be exhausted by mid-2023:
President Trump continues to play fast and loose with the health and well-being of Americas seniors. The new analysis today shows the swift potential devastation of President Trumps reckless call to terminate the payroll tax: shattering the sacred promise of Social Security.
While Trump tries to hollow out the Social Security Trust Fund, Democrats will stand strong for Americas seniors and Social Security beneficiaries.

Now there is a dramatic difference for this election. Talk about wheeling grandma off the cliff. GWB just dreamed about it. The Orange Jesus hates everyone enough to do it.

(14,919 posts)8. True, that. And even those who are young today have been paying into
Social Security all along and have the right to expect their earned benefits when age or disability catches up with them someday in the future..

what recourse is there? This won't just affect us retired folks.

Businesses would lose out on all the purchasing power behind SSI.
