My honest assessment was that it was an intended to be the Trumpist-Republican Party's answer to Michelle Obama's speech on Opening Night last week. An "inspiring, rally the troops" type of address.
A few very glaring problems about that, however.
1. Michelle's speech was indeed inspirational and motivational. It was genuine and heart-felt, and was delivered in an appropriately intimate setting that was required under the current circumstances, and that type of setting complimented the message well. On the other hand, despite the volume of her voice, Guilfoyle's speech was cold and lacked any sort of authenticity or depth to it. It was delivered to a large empty room as if there was supposed to be an audience there, but the lack of an audience just made it feel all the more bizarre. It had all the appearances of a bad actresses' failed screen test for a role on some awful historical docudrama with B-movie level production values.
2. The intended audience loved Michelle Obama and knew her well, and was able to emotionally connect with her. After all, she was our First Lady for eight years and her lifelong love and devotion to her husband and children is immediately appealing. Guilfoyle, on the other hand, is just some woman who has been dating Donald Trump's son for the past two years or so. Can even the Trumpist-Republicans say they have any emotional attachment to her at all?
Putting all political biases aside, objectively speaking the entire thing was just an embarrassing failure in terms of rhetoric.

(I think Kimberly is actually the same age as Melania, and doesn't have as good a "hair guy", so looks older.)

(7,814 posts)appears to have a limited audience...perhaps a few in the WH, a few oligarchs, a Russian leader. A display of who is 100% in and who is not. Kimberley is 110% in.
And because Trump needs praise every chance he gets.
I don't believe they intend to have a fair election...and civil unrest has something to do with it.

(2,935 posts)i know people hate these comparisons but it reminded me of nazi Germany. The hatred of the other side was way , way over the top. A speech like that does not belong in Democratic society. It was truly awful.
