General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI have a general question for you all:
So because I have ads on my DU I am wondering why so many right wing ads show up.
Trump fundraising
Is the media treating the president fairly?
Right wing t-shirts
A lot of trump stuff
Occasionally some dem stuff but usually more right wing than others. Mind you there are other non-political advertising, but a lot of RW stuff.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance

Most of us donate to DU and no ads.
For as little as $5.00 a year you can get rid of them. Don't want to pry into your finances but... how much does it cost you to connect to the Internet? Via a "smartphone" or through other connections?

It's a Google ads algorithm. We talk about Comrade Dumbass of Orange, and we talk about him a lot. The ads we see here are triggered by the subjects we discuss, and the people buting ad space at the time. It works that way everywhere for Google ads.
If you want to be without ads, buy a star. You can do it for as little as 5 bucks a year. It's wonderful.

(14,537 posts)and a few other factors. A company hires a marketing co to place their ads. The marketing company pays websites to display those ads.
An algorithm chooses which ads to display where. DU gets trump ads because we mention him so much.
I used to let Admin know when republican ads appeared. You go to the Ask the Administrators, give them a link to the ad and they can block/disable it. At this point it is pretty much like playing whack a mole in getting rid of them.
Or you can click on the ad and have republicans send a check to DU.
I think the funniest ad that ever appeared for me was one for Krispy Kreme, in an OP for Chris Christy. I am sure is was not me, I would never refer to him as krispy Kreme.

Its no biggie but now I know.
I figured it had nothing to do specifically with DU but with their advertising peeps.
I too have no problem taking their money.
And no I do not believe they would sway anyone here toward their side.
Thanks folks

(63,221 posts)me some bullshit answer about "free speech". Not that I don't believe in free speech, but a privately owned newspaper does not have to accept ads from someone who goes everything they stand for. Strangely enough, I haven't seen any Trump ads on the WaPo since I complained so I think there must have been a landslide of complaints for them to finally say "No more".
Don't get me started on certain journalists. A lot of us are still begging the Post to get rid of them. There is one thing about presenting an opposing viewpoint, but another to give a voice to people who bow down and worship Trump as if he were god. Talking to you, Hugh Hewitt and Marc Thiessen.
