This storm will have massive impact on the country. Food prices will go up. My guess is most of the big ag farms carry crop insurance and will come out ok. The little outfits will go bankrupt and there will be bunch more rural suicides this winter when the bills come due.

This is also a massive environmental disaster as many of those hogs and chickens will die if the barns do not have power, most places should have generators. But where the barns are too damaged the animals will die or be euthanized. Wish there was more reporting. The young tiktok’er is spot on. Why is there no national news on this?

When a derecho hit here the national news focused on the damage closer to the east coast. Ohio was left on its own. It was a huge mess. Many in rural areas went weeks without power, same thing will happen in Iowa. The Democratic Party could make inroads there by highlighting what Iowa is going through.
