Nobody knows the whole story yet, if we ever will, but say a guy who's already had a small history of anger is breaking up a fight.
Nasty fight, with maybe a gunshot fired. He's not in a good mood.
Cops show up with the usual attitude and want to know whats going on.
"None of you fucking business" and he heads to his his car to take off.
No cop can dare let himself be dissed like that so he goes off on the guy. Guy is pretty big and in no mood to stop and chat. Ignores the cop and gets into his car. Can't be bothered to talk to cop.
Cop simply cannot let the guy just go off. That stops the investigation and makes the cop look foolish.
Guy's too big, his buddies aren't helping, and the cheap city didn't give him a taser, so he loses it and empties his gun in the guy.
"That'll show him."
OK, let's say this is even partly true, it's close enough to ask WTF can we do to stop this kind of shit?

(9,952 posts)Right here. No. They are servants of the people end of fuckin story. They are not God. So many of us are working minimum wage and we too have to keep our fuckin mouth shut. We all live a life doing our job dealing with exact this. WHY... why? Are cops so fuckin fragile or special that they get an automatic holier than thou respect.
NO!

(26,045 posts)...most Americans, and particularly those of (shall we say) lighter skin color, when presented with that scenario, will respond "well, if he acted like that toward police, he deserved to get shot."
And that will be the end of that.

(20,585 posts)cop had to get him back for whatever was said during the initial encounter. Cop stalked the guy and did not even attempt to run after him if there was a real threat.

(16,646 posts)The officer initiated a physical confrontation with the victim. In the scuffle, the officer believed the victim was attempting to take his weapon and he needed to fire to prevent his weapon from falling into the victims hands.
Of course there will be no discussion of why an armed officer, with their weapon drawn, decides to get into a physical altercation.

(36,745 posts)I dont like the idea of either one being used, but without knowing the situation fully I am wondering why the lesser of the two wasnt used.
Shooting someone in the back eight times like this infuriates me.
