I'm curious about what people expect up to and after the election.

I seriously believe there will be heightened civil unrest up to and after the election. I've been thinking about putting a plan together to make sure I have the supplies I need for a time after the election--things like basic food supplies, dog food, meds, etc. I expect to see shortages similar to what happened during the pandemic shutdown in March-May.

Does anybody else have these concerns, or am I just a bit anxious?

I have also started purchasing over the counter allergy meds, Excedrin, Mucinex, and yes paper towels and toilet paper. Like you, making sure I have dog food and other pet supplies.

Trump and his Putin tactics will try to stoke the flames of violence at every opportunity because he sees this as supporting his claim of being for law and order. This is happening right now in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Demonstrators in Kenosha don't realize it, but they are playing right into trump's hand.
After the election, it all depends on who wins and the margin of victory.
As far as getting prepared like stocking up on supplies etc., I think is unnecessary. Any violence will be localized and rather thin compared to the entire nation. Trump only needs a few areas to push his anarchy agenda.

the supply chain. Like much of the country, we experienced a lot of shortages of food and supplies at the beginning of the pandemic.

I have neighbors at the top of the stairs (apartments) who basically live outside their door, so I have to walk past them constantly to get downstairs. It's funny that they are always worrying about the "virus"," but won't take any precautions. That plus no one in this complex wearing a mask, and I feel like a walking target.

I'm also downstate (think U of I) and given the condition of the farm economy and the number of old school republicans that are here, I really feel support is much softer than it has been at any prior time. Yes, I do think there are folks here that will vote for his party, but I also think in many cases there's a lack of passion there. I expect some grumbling if he loses, but not much beyond that.

great pains not to mention trump in the same manner he was even a year ago. I am not worried about post or pre-elections issues here BUT in battleground states OI do expect all sorts of bad stuff as trump advocates for violence at the polls

What there will likely be:

1-A rush to put out a vaccine that has not been fully vetted in order to frame the Dems as being against the vaccine.

2-Continued presence of white supremacist militia groups in US cities where there is police violence. We saw that last night in Kenosha. The goal is to provoke violence from ANTIFA-Anarchist types who they will paint as "Dems".

3-Continued threats from Trump about sending military and police into communities to monitor (intimidate voters) elections.

4-Deployment of Deep Fake technology engineered in Russia that will be used to make Biden look bad.

5-High levels of Russian interference in our elections through social media. If we're lucky it will be limited to that.

6-Unprecedented levels of race baiting in campaign messaging, some of which we've already seen.

That's some of it. I'm sure there will be far darker elements that will be introduced along the way. What we can expect is to expect things we never thought we'd see here. I believe we will prevail, because i think there is a very large coalition of voters building against Trump. But it won't be pretty.

I think it will start before the election. I expect Trump to send agitators into the blue cities and to the minority sections of red cities, weeks ahead election day, to spread drama as needed. Giving him the "authority" to bring in the NG and his mercs. 3/4 of polling locations in those sections will be closed because they "can't be secured" and on it goes...

I don't think we'll see it as bad as other areas of the country, but we have a business here that is publicly espousing QAnon, and we've already had one incident where "patriots" with AKs surrounded the storefront to "protect it" from a lone demonstrator. The owner loves to stir up trouble when she can. Sadly, it's located on church row in a mostly residential area, across the street from an elementary school, and 1 block from a synogogue. I worry for that neighborhood.

I live in the part of town that the MAGAts have been itching to burn again since the first fire was put out in 1921. I've lived here 40 years, this is the most on-edge I have ever seen it. I saw my next door neighbor get hauled off his porch and tossed on the hood of patrol car, because he was the first black person the cops saw after a dude got shot 2 blocks away. IF - IF he hadn't security cams covering every inch of his place that proved he had been sitting there for an hour, and several eyewitnesses filming the whole thing, I doubt he would have made it to jail. 2 days later they took him downtown anyway because "If he was sitting there, he saw who did it". He got a lawyer, they haven't been back and no arrest has been made.
If I'm wrong, I will be glad to be wrong. If I am right, I'm ready.

It's hard to believe we're having these sorts of situations here, but I guess I've just been blind to it all these years.

(Over the last few years, there have been many times when the Tulsa World has more news about OKC than the Oklahoman....)

With everything designed to foment hate, division and most importantly...confusion.

Bad, unidentifiable actors coming out of the shadows to instigate violence at strategic locations.

Continued phony "cures" for Covid.

Accelerating conspiracy theories publicly supported by Trump.

A "miracle" vaccine being approved in the United States by the FDA for mass public use before the election.

Deepening corruption of supply chains. Mass shortages of many items, especially paper products.

An increase in the sale of firearms.

Aggressive action toward a foreign country.

An even greater escalation of the murdering of black people by law enforcement.

Covid to run virtually unchecked.

The declaration of martial law by Trump.

Trump using Barr to contest the results of the election, no matter how huge the Biden landslide is.

Some form of a large "false flag" national disaster.

No official declaration of the winner of the general election by January 20.

A steep rise in both suicide and homicide rates.

A steep rise in homelessness.

Serious threats to the integrity of Social Security.

The continuing dismantling of the USPS in creative ways.

A steep and unsustainable rise in the stock market.

In other words, a "cornered animal" situation perpetuated by Trump.
