how much does a mail sorting machine cost?

Though the letters that passed through the machines would have to be manually faced and canceled, this was still a vast improvement on all the mail being manually processed. The cost of the machines was significant, with an initial price of $18,000 and approximately $7,000 a year to maintain.

$325,000 new. the ones I see at the PO are way bigger. Worth checking into
