(53,061 posts)There have been about a dozen complaints made by the OSC finding violations of the Hatch Act but they were relatively minor in nature and was handled mostly with a warning letter.
It wasn't until this administration that the abuses were so systemic.
Conway was found to have made multiple violations of the HA but the Trump Doubt It not follow up.

(4,720 posts)His thinking is there isnt one agency in the USA with the courage and willingness to stop me. In his view we are weak; he is strong. We should stop making demands if they are impotent. It doesnt look good.

(13,103 posts)1000 fine.
Pretty weak but there are likely 100s of people in trump admin that have broken the law.
What does it take to enforce this?
I see this...
The Merit Systems Protection Board and the Office of Special Counsel (OSC) are responsible for enforcement of the Hatch Act.
Does that mean it doesnt take a court?
on edit.
Those like K Conway, Ivanka etc... who have repeatedly violated it, can they be charged with multiple counts?

(8,844 posts)have we all said: He can't do that legally. Or the RepubliCON Senators can't do that legally?
From day one, they were not going to wait for the 2020 election to install their Corporate Fascist Tyranny.
We are well past the point of no Return people........
A book written about the past 40 years, and particularly the last four years would have the PERFECT title:
WHILE THE NATION SLEPT..........
Someone could sit down and write every willful and wanton violation of the U.S. Constitution and Rule of Law and it would take months to cite every single violation.
THIS IS WHAT A "CORPORATE FASCIST TYRANNY LOOKS LIKE..........
and it is gonna get a lot uglier in the next two months, as the RepubliCONs will stop at nothing to make it permanent.......
Cheeto, lest we forget, is merely an inevitable product of a much larger problem: the push by Big Business (with exceptions) to return to a Mussolini - or even a 19th century - model of governance.
Back to a Gilded Age in which government was merely an agency of theirs - something they've already more than halfway accomplished.
At the very least, their goal is to make even the most modest reforms all but impossible. Radicalizing the right is a big part of that - or so they think.
Because radicalized politics (be it on the far left or right - but especially on the far right, due to all the money behind it) is like a snake eating its own tail. It never ends well for anyone.

(36,132 posts)if we make that future come true by luck and pluck, he'll be indicted for it.
We just have to make sure he doesn't cheat this election while calling Democrats the cheaters. Which he's already doing and will do no matter what the result is.

(216 posts)The people should hold him accountable for his blatant disregard for the law by voting him out of office. This is just one of a number of examples of his authoritarianism belief that he is above the law. Our Law & Order President, what a sick joke.
