(3,697 posts)Kennedy's decision to run against Markey was bone headed. Rather than improving his political career he may have done lasting damage. Some folks won't forget his seeming impatience and sense of entitlement that allowed him to mount a run against a well regarded Senator. Kennedy is an anti-vaxer so I already held him in low regard.

(31,261 posts)Other than that I agree 109% with you. Kennedy has likely destroyed his political career. He could have easily become the next Governor of his state in 2022 and do that job while waiting for Senator Warren or Senator Markey to call it quits, or he could have established a record as Governor that got him on a presidential ticket within 10 years, and he would still have been fairly young.
I dont know how he came to his decision. My guess is Democratic consultants with dollar signs in their eyes in this case encouraged him to do political career suicide by challenging a person who was doing a solid job.

(253 posts)I am THRILLED by this poll. Kennedy richly deserves a drubbing at the hands of Markey!

(7,871 posts)Why does Massachusetts wait so late in the damn year to have a primary? The general election is just a couple of months away at this point, sheesh.

(31,261 posts)My states (Florida) general primary was just last a Tuesday. The Presidential Primary was in March. Some states have final votes of county and district level offices on the General Primary ballot, that may be while they run their general primaries later in the year.
