General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAccording to James Comey, William Barr was a man of integrity before working for Donald Trump.
Was he a man of integrity, in Comey's mind, when he was urging George HW Bush to pardon Casper Weinberger and other Iran-Contra offenders?
I guess in Comey's mind he was. That attitude might help to explain why Comey felt justified in taking the actions that he took during the investigation into the fake email scandal.

(10,500 posts)Comey dominated that election from start to finish. He wasn't just more important than any other factor. He was more important than every other factor put together IMO.

(82,849 posts)Barr's involvement in the decapitation of the Iran/contra crime spree showed everyone a long time ago what kind of man he is. Maybe "integrity" means something else to James Comey than it does to the rest of humanity?
Wasn't Comey making some noises a week or two ago about what a bunch of scumbags make up the Trump administration? Now he's trying to rehab Barr or summon him back from the dark side? Considering what a just punishment would look like for Comey, the fact that he's still walking around a free man cause him to get out and stay out of the public eye and hope that he and his body of work are totally forgotten.

(2,393 posts)Here's his recent op ed in the Post-
The Justice Department was damaged when the attorney general and the president lied to the American people about the work of the special counsel investigating the president.
They damaged it again when the attorney general intervened in a case involving the presidents friend Roger Stone to overrule the sentencing recommendation of career prosecutors.
And they damaged it again when the attorney general tried to drop a case in which the presidents ally Michael Flynn had already pleaded guilty, twice.
And again when the attorney general marched across a smoke-filled square that he had ordered cleared of protesters exercising their rights as Americans, all so the president could stand in front of a church and hold up the Bible as a political prop.
We need a president who has devoted his life to serving others through the rule of law.
We need to elect Joe Biden.

(9,966 posts)... Barr had integrity? I recall none... and Comey knows Barr's history even more than I do... I wonder why he said that... maybe some message to Barr?
