At a time when the repubs are engaged in a mass self fellating jamboree, there is exactly one state on track to control COVID. A handful are experiencing slow growth. But nearly 2/3 of the country is at risk of outbreak. Just as the great "go back to work and school and the stores" likely failed experiment is getting going.

And - Laura should have reminded us that Climate Change continues to charge at us like a freight train. But thinking of those two issues - and adding out of control police forces - and children in cages - way, way too much like needing to walk and chew gum at the same time for nearly half of the country and much of our media.

1. Maine WAS on track. Until this one wedding...

We were looking pretty good. Then up north, on August 7, a bride and groom in Trump country decided to flout state law and they had a 65-person indoor reception. That one event has now led to 85 new Covid cases across the state, one death, and two new outbreaks, one in a jail, the other at a rehab center.

All because of one lousy wedding.
