Or are there any others that look at these daily 200-300 point rises in Dow and know it is just Wall Street and billionaire manipulation to re elect Trump. 30 million unemployed, millions facing losing homes and the Dow soaring to keep trump for more tax breaks, pollution, and thievery. How many of you are wallowing in cash with portfolios as thick as the Binders full of women Romney has on his desk?

(1,649 posts)That said, I should have had enough sense to put my money back in at the bottom. I should have known they would manipulate it. Actually I did know they would try to manipulate it I just didn't picture them being so successful.

(8,795 posts)Financial experts, not Mnuchin and Kudlow, all say because it is all BS, the economy will burn to the ground and destroy us all, except the manipulators that will have a heads up and sell before, like many currently serving in Congress and senate. If ya feel lucky and have undervtsbke advisors, ya might make a buck. But where we are headed, a buck will be worth nothing. Useless paper.

(1,649 posts)The horse has left the barn. Yes, it's all going to blow up. I've seen speculation that Trump will blow it up on his way out.

(8,795 posts)The fool will bow up many things as he always does. I believe he will blow up this country to keep out of prison. Thank you for your replies. I quit gambling in markets after the 2,000 crash took 10 years of my money, lost $19,000 in Annuity. Seems petty but to a State educator raising a daughter alone, that was a fortune.

(52,317 posts)they're buying stock to make money.
the *fed* is pumping up the stock market, as are the federal government stimulus/rescue packages.
more fundamentally, covid-19 is affecting non-stock market companies far more than stock-market companies. the reason is that the businesses hardest hit are the ones that require face-to-face customer interaction, which tends to mean smaller, private companies.
the large, public companies rely far more on phone calls, emails, technology, plants filled with robots, etc., and can do a lot of their work from home these days, or at least can find a way to continue business with social distancing.
the nail salons are screwed, but that kind of business doesn't much show up in the stock market.
so some of this is certainly a bubble effect, but some of it is quite legitimate; amazon really is doing very well these days for instance.

(8,795 posts)All the Maggots that will vote for Trump because of Dow, can not spell portfolio. A complete crash will destroy Social Security and State retirement investments nationwide and destroy seniors. But big deal, old folks HAVE to die for the economy. Of no use now, they fought the wars for cash so go away you useless eaters.

The Pandemic means they can make money from buying stock in respirators, PPEs, and all things tied to medical care.
Hurricane Laura means they can make money buying anything related to building and rebuilding building structures, lumber, tools, nails, etc.
Riots and shootings in the streets is great for buying stock in glass windows and cleanup equipment, and in the manufacture and sale of fire arms.
Theres more, but no need to continue.
