Question for those who live in red areas, do you show support for Democrats?

Last edited Fri Aug 28, 2020, 12:16 PM - Edit history (1)

I have a vote blue bumper sticker that I keep thinking about placing on my car, then think again. I have a new car, and I am very worried (again live in a red area) that my car will be vandalized in some way if I use that bumper sticker. I am thinking a keying on the paint or some such thing.

Do any of you have the same fears? If so do you do so anyway? Or are you like me and just too chicken.

Wow lots of response, most "chicken" like me. Makes me wonder why we all feel as if we will either have our bodies or property attacked. Hard to put in words, so are the current crop of republicans so dangerous?

Not so much cutting me off, but closely tail-gating even when I was already driving over the speed limit.

I pulled over a few times when it happened, then watched the tail-gater slow way down after passing me... making it obvious that harassing me was the only motivation.

Always a pick-up truck in those instances. Always.

In Ohio. Drive a different vehicle now after leasing the Prius.

Not bad gas mileage.

No more tail-gating issues either, although that's not why I switched. I just decided to buy the older Camry outright to avoid monthly payments.

a BMW cuts in front of me and stays there.

Eventually, I move to the #2 lane and end up getting ahead of the BMW. Not intentionally, just going with the traffic.

I look to my right and see the same BMW driving very fast in the *shoulder* to the right opf a semi obviously trying to cut ahead of me again.

This guy had to go all the way to the shoulder just to cut me off.

And as you surely know, the Prius cuts through the air like a hot knife through butter and can move quite fast once up to speed!

Very quiet too, so I caught myself a few times driving way over the speed limit on long, mostly-secluded sections of highway. At least until my relative speed was compared to a group of cars ahead of me driving far slower -- i.e., the speed limit!

I never understood the hate.

I got behind a couple Prius drivers over the years who were apparently trying to get 100 mpg or something, driving inappropriately slow in some situations, but that certainly wasn't the norm.

election. It happened in a parking lot by a grocery store. The store did not have cameras which really made me mad in this day and age. We put signs in our yard, but since 2016 we put them close to the house. We had a bunch of them stolen in 2016 until we put a small sign on it that said if they take it or destroy it we just get another one and give more money to the Democratic Party, it stopped after that.

We have had a real mess here in our town with the Trumpers recalling our mayor and female council members trying to "take back our city from the libs". They aligned with the police in town, making it sound like it was about "defunding the police" . They have been more scary than in the past. The leader chased a car full of teenagers who drove by one of their pop ups playing a song they didn't like about Trumper and threatened them with a brick.

We haven't elected a Democrat to any state or local office in over 25 years. Our US Congresswoman Xochitl Torres Small is among the most challenged in her race....and yet I put on stickers on every car with no keying or tire slashing or anything. I use magnetic bumper stickers but have a permanent vinyl 'I can't breathe' on the front hood. On both sides and the back I have 'Proud Otero County Democrat' or our Dem Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham or 'Got Veteran Benefits? Thank a Democrat' or 'Got Social Security? Thank a Democrat..
It smooths my soul in some weird way.

I've had Democratic bumper stickers on my car starting in 2008. I will admit, though, that I didn't have a Hillary sticker on in '16 because I was afraid of the reaction.

I am going to put Biden/Harris stickers on our cars this time because fck them.

The trump sign I custom ordered $30

Finally bought a generic flag and a vote Democrat sign. [img][/img]

there has been no democrat to show up for the race. This year, there are 2 women that may or may not have a chance.

I have a 93 Izusu Trooper and if it got keyed, no one would notice. (it took itself on an adventure one day and rolled across a road and into an iron fence and that certainly made it a mess) I don't know where you live, but you could use magnets to hold your sign on and take it off when you are concerned.

Maybe just my experiences but it seems that the right-wingers seem to start the conflicts, etc. I have never seen a Dem start trouble like this. In my mind they take pride in being assholes? Maybe just "shitkicker" mentality?

I have two cars -- a very ancient Honda CRV and an new Lincoln sedan. The CRV is a liberal bumper sticker billboard on wheels. The Lincoln has no bumper stickers.

Even in a blue area, there are RWNJ who think they have a gawd given right to destroy anything that is against Trump IMO. So nothing on the Lincoln...however, there is not much they can do to harm the CRV. It's low mileage and in excellent shape, but it's nearly 20 years old. I have had bumper stickers removed or written over the last few years, but never any vandalism. Most of the time, I get thumbs up from other drivers when I am using the CRV.

In red state, a Biden bumper sticker? I would worry more about getting shot than having my new car vandalized.
