Am I the only one who has been receiving multiple text messages a day on my cell phone soliciting contributions for Trump's campaign? I make quite a few donations but always to Democrats but I have never gotten these kind of begging texts from Dems. I'm drowning in emails from the various Dem candidates and Dem organizations though. My first question about these texts were how the hell the GOP even got my cell numbers to send the texts. I remember something a while back about Trump getting every cell number in case the need came up for some emergency communication to the country.

(4,602 posts)The office of the presidency can get providers to send a text to every phone. Those are different things.

(43,049 posts)me begging letters and emails. Donate to one and you're on the "Live Ones" list.
I have somehow gotten on to several republican email lists. I filter them to the trash bin, but wonder which GOPrick paid for my name.

Two or three from national committees
Likewise I've never voted Republican in my life. My best guess is that they found my particulars as a white male of certain age and deemed that I was gettable potential for their side. They are very relentless here in Florida

(16,383 posts)Sorry to say, I'm not very mature about it either. I usually scrawl "fuck you" or "you suck" across the survey and send it back in the postage-paid envelope.

(14,565 posts)It was all loaded questions followed by check boxes, stuff like, "Do you agree that President Trump will prevent total socialist takeover by the Democrat Party?'

(35,348 posts)6 or so from Biden every day. One day this week I got 63 emails from Democrats. If I get a couple I read them when I see 63 I just hit select all and delete.

(15,805 posts)the Trump crime family. They somehow latched into my throw away accounts as well as my private email that I only use with family.
I hate it.

(14,764 posts)My son applied to join the air force a few years ago. He is now firmly on every republican mailing list in the country. Other than being a young white male, he is not in any demographic the republicans could use to think he might be susceptible to them.
His twin sister gets nothing. Neither does his older brother.
I'm convinced they have access to selective service application data. Illegal, but why would that stop them.

(12,633 posts)I know thats how they got my phone #. But they only seem to use it for in-state campaigns. So far.

(18,402 posts)But I get, like, 8 texts a day from Joe Biden. Even right after Ive just donated again.
I dont have the heart to text back STOP, but honestly, dont they realize how intrusive it is? I work from home, and now my spouse does too, since COVID. I have to keep my text alerts on, because sometimes my elderly mothers caregivers text me, and I need to be available.
Its so disruptive to my concentration to have these texts coming all day.
I dont know how anyone gets on Trumps text list. Something from somewhere mustve gotten you on. I dont know anyone whos getting them. But Im not in a swing state. Maybe thats it.

(1,850 posts)I get 8-10 GOP emails a day, usually from the don, or trump flash sale, with a few from either Jr, Kim guiltfoil, Eric, katie, melania, and had one recently from newt. I just checked the spam folder before I replied. 8-10 a day! I checked folder earlier in the month, had a slew of angry emails from Jr, that his father had contacted me and was disappointed I hadn't responded with $. Or offering me the opportunity to attend their functions. Many were creepy, trying to strong-arm and intimidate.
I get several texts daily from Dems about voting, contacting my reps, asking for support. Nothing creepy.
I have gotten several calls from Tillis, my senator, inviting me to virtual town halls. Actually listened to part of one. I used to call his office regularly, which is probably how they got my number. I stopped wasting my breath and time calling him often.
Once you mentioned, I recalled they did do a test a while back involving calling everyone to verify phone numbers. I have no clue how they got my email. I've also gotten a number of calls conducting surveys relating to candidates, policies, and election. Probably because I answered one, they kept calling. I stopped answering.

(63,221 posts)A few still get through however. I am also getting bombarded with Democratic texts and emails, but I gave THEM my email. I never gave it to the republicans.

(3,697 posts)They always come from a variety of 877 numbers. It's strange that I don't texts from Dems but I do get thousands of emails. I made some contributions that were to be shared with 10 different House candidates and that put me on each of their email lists in addition to the 10+ candidates I had already donate to. I live in Indiana and we only have a couple of competitive House races that can be flipped.

(63,221 posts)text back "STOP" and that should work. Most of my texts are from Dems, but the repubs are sending a lot of emails, which I unsubscribe from.

(34,136 posts)I have done that with GOP solicitation calls. I don't get many texts and never a political one, but I would do it with mail solicitations, too - except my husband weeds out the mail at the post office and doesn't bring home most political flyers.
