It obviously hasn't dawned on Trump yet ...

… that he can’t “bring back the economy” between now and November, or that if a Covid vaccine/cure materialized before the election, it wouldn’t change the fact that his incompetence and failure of leadership have already caused so many deaths.

He actually believes that there is some magic to be conjured-up that will bring back the voters he’s already lost. And, as per usual, he lacks the mental acuity to recognize that there is no magic to be had.

The fact is that those voters who have turned against him are concerned about way more than the economy, or even the pandemic – they’re worried about their country, and the destruction of it at the hands of a corrupt “pResident” who has been aided and abetted by a corrupt party.

And yet he clings to the ridiculous notion that there is a statement he can make, an action he can take, a last-minute accomplishment he can point to that will cause those who have abandoned him to come running back to the fold.

Just more proof – as if any more were necessary – that the man is as desperate as he is delusional.

And there are 66 Days Prior to Election Day. With Early Voting starting much earlier than that.

The economy is going to get worse, not better. Unemployment is going to increase, not decrease. Evictions will start to occur more and more frequently. Businesses will run out of time to recover and will close.

The Stock Market is the only thing holding up the house of cards. The repubs are obviously calling in every single favor they can, to make sure the market is sufficiently juiced. If it collapses, you're going to see an electoral college landslide, which may happen anyways.

We still need the most massive, overwhelming turnout. This has to be a Crushing defeat for Trumpism. We MUST take down as many of these Sycophants as possible, and do it NOW. We have to truly make it so that him and EVERYONE associated with him, get written into the history books, as the Worst, Most Corrupt, and Illegal administration in the country's history. And one that had Enablers, who sat by while crime after crime after crime after crime......was committed.

And yet, that is exactly what he thinks.

his response to Covid, the tanked economy and civil unrest has been lazy. He’s never had to work very hard at anything, just rake in mob cash and pay lawyers to keep him out of the grasp of the law.

He’s incredibly stupid and lazy, so of course he’s looking for a magic pill to fix everything he’s fucked up.

And he never had a plan to govern in the fist place. He is just a ‘smash and grab’ president. Loot everything he can and break the rest on his way out.

... his previous supporters who have turned on him.

And that's the point. Instead of trying to win over new voters, he's struggling to get back the voters he's already lost - and it's not going to work.

The voters who have abandoned him have done so because they've seen the truth. They're not going to be lured back by what they now know to be more lies.

Right now, Trump is the abusive husband who thinks there's a 'right combination' of flowers and threats that will win back his battered wife - the one who has already pressed charges and agreed to testify against him at the ballot box.

I know Trump and 'law and order' sounds like a sick joke, but the looting and burning gives him an opening to push back. He can conflate our support of the actual peaceful protests with support of the rioting.

It allows him to try to repeat his 2016 strategy - lie constantly and attack to make his opponent seem just as bad or worse - and let the guns and God crowd in the rust belt carry him over the top in the EC.

I don't think it will work, he has alienated independents too much, but it's his best option.

Somehow that doesn't strike me as a winning strategy - no less a sane one.

... has become yet another political myth that the GOP is now clinging to as a game changer.

Think of all the times over the past four years a "major announcement" has turned out to be yet another inconsequential statement that says nothing, and means even less.

Desperate people say desperate things. Threatening an "October surprise" is the last resort of a party that already lost months ago - long before pumpkin-spice season was back in vogue.

As for Trump having "something substantial planned" - we've all seen what he considers 'substantial'.

I'll leave it there.

Kos had a post about the Trump Administration going pretty quiet on the airwaves recently. Maybe holding off for the third quarter GDP numbers and spend to promote them? The numbers are going to come out right before the election and the GDP increase is going to look amazing. Now of course the only reason that will happen is because of the even more massive decrease last quarter and our GDP will still be nowhere near pre pandemic levels. Estimates show that GDP will increase 15 to 20% on an annualized basis. Leading up to the numbers coming out the RW noise machine will kick into high gear with BS headlines like "Experts say United States enjoys highest GDP growth ever on record thanks to President Trump's leadership." Every single Republican official and talking head will have no problem getting on TV and lying and saying that everything's back to good now. Unfortunately a wide swath of voters are not known for nuance and may not realize the truth. I don't want to believe that could swing things enough that quickly but after 2016 take nothing for granted.

To turn an economy around, or come out with a vaccine.

He only has to convince the masses of his low IQ voters that he’s done that, or is within reach of doing that. It doesn’t have to be true, it only has to be conveyed by the conman.

This is going to be the struggle of a lifetime for realism to win in November. There has never been a more important election with higher stakes. Get out the vote!

The voters who have already abandoned Trump aren't coming back.

His only chance was winning back his 'base' - which wasn't big enough to win re-election in the first place - and adding to it.

Instead, they're defecting.

What he convinces the remaining "low-IQ voters" of is of no consequence - because there aren't enough of them to matter.

Attention to his brand and get money. He spent the last 3 1/2 yrs conning everyone into filling his and his families pockets. It didn't matter to him it never has if he did illegal things, he was at the top nothing could stop him. Dems couldn't even get rid of him. Then covid happened and he was unprepared, stupidly hopeful it would just go away like the flu and now is way way in over his head. Pretending all is ok but he knows its not, he knows he will lose big if there is a fair election so he accuses the dems of cheating as he clogs the post office. He wants out, he really really wants out, his wife hates his guts, most everyone he works with despises him, he thinks his followers are stupid idiots but he has boxed himself in between covid bankrupting his businesses and possible jail now if he loses.

... won't work for him, like it helped Nixon in 1968.

It looks like there's few undecideds at this point, at least, so I think Biden/Harris will win based on the polls (especially in the battleground states).

I just know that some of my fellow white people can get "skeered" by people of other skin colors sometimes.

One of the last times -- because of the pandemic -- that I set foot in a store around here, I quickly swerved to the other side of a Wal-Mart aisle (that was divided by product on the floor) to avoid a black woman and her child who suddenly emerged from a side-aisle and blocked my path. I'm a fast walker and I wanted to shop and leave quickly, so I just moved to the other side. Then the woman's husband / boyfriend emerged and looked at me as I moved over, possibly thinking I was being racist like I was just moving to avoid being near black people (like someone crossing a street or whatever). He shouted at me, "Pony-ass mother fucker! Fucking pony-ass!" It continued that way for about 10 seconds as I continued walking and didn't look back. (Figured it was best to ignore him unless he pursued and got in my face.) Then I heard the woman shush him, and that's all that happened.

There would be some white people really upset about such a minor thing, but I know there's all kinds among different people. Someone like Rand Paul would probably feel traumatized by it! Lol!

Later looked up what the heck "pony-ass" even meant, and it's usually a reference to women with big butts. Lol! I'm a skinny-butt guy, so I guess it was supposed to be a general insult? Whatever.
