(5,969 posts)The police is directly responsible for this. They didn't only allow this escalation by not sending these armed goons back, they actively encouraged and enabled them. If there was a curfew, surely it was for everyone. But no, they threw gasoline into the fire. What were they thinking?

(21,359 posts)I used to run with state cops back in the 60's when the cops would have a drink with you after their shifts. I played in a golf league with state cops. With that said, I personally knew about 8 of them and 6 of the 8 were racist. With that said, I lived in an area that only had about 1% minority population.
Also, it's so obvious how young he is in this photograph. It's ridiculous.

(6,917 posts)Cops sympathetic to right-wing nutjobs is a perpetual risk. Why? Because policing requires physical force.
The brains of cops must be the target of de-escalation efforts. And since brains are controlled by peer pressure, protesters must evolve to different methods.
At this stage, they must separate the good cops from the bad cops ideologically. Thats the counterattack right now by Trumplump in good protesters with bad, lump in good cops with bad.
Accuse Republicans of lumping in bad cops with good, accuse Republicans of painting the police force as a bunch of rogue lawbreakers. Accuse them of exactly what Trump wants police to bedumb political goons. Ask law enforcement if they like being used as ignorant political goons and see how it changes the conversation.

(50,278 posts)weapons? That's just crazy. If the police are so fucking afraid they have to recruit militia members, it's time the guns are banned.
That's my question also. They weren't even trying to conceal what they were intending.
This is just so unsettling. Where were the police at the time these two were roaming the streets?
This country must get control over the sale of these military style weapons. No one needs to own these guns.

(43,408 posts)SCOTUS will go to 7-2 or even 8-1(Sotomayor has really bad chronic diabetes) hard RW.
The US Constitution will prove to be a suicide pact by 2040 max, at multiple, fatal levels. 250 year run (a blink in time) and out. Just for starters, the EC, the Senate, and the too powerful, non accountable office of POTUS (Trump has exposed how impotent Congress is to stop an imperial POTUS) are prime examples. I always laugh when people (across the poltical spectrum) hold up the framers as infallible and god-like.

(9,426 posts)Rudy Guilliani's lawyer? What is the connection there, between a high priced lawyer from NY or DC, and a kid from a small town in Illinois? Is Rudy behind some of these infiltrators at the demonstrations? We know the damage is being done by white power freaks and Nazi sympathizers. Who is behind all this carnage, so tRump can claim that the blacks are out of control?

(19,993 posts)If a person is not otherwise prohibited from possessing a firearm, it is legal to carry any legal firearm openly in Wisconsin.

Under Wisconsin statutes that say anyone under 18 who "goes armed" with any deadly weapon is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor, Kyle Rittenhouse, 17, was not old enough to legally carry the assault-style rifle he had.
But John Monroe, a lawyer who specializes in gun rights cases, believes an exception for rifles and shotguns, intended to allow people age 16 and 17 to hunt, could apply.

Allowing anyone to openly carry an assault rifle (or any other firearm IMO) is madness. I'm not sure why anyone overseas would want to risk their life coming to the U.S. even for a visit.
