when he realizes there is no way for him to win. He'll probably announce that he has Covid-19 or some new illness a la his bone spur lies to escape Vietnam.
The next 67 days will be something else - Cohen's book, the book on Melania and then there are several more of those fifteen hours of delicious details from Mary's recording of MaryAnne. I have a feeling they are saving the best for last.
And more and more rats will be jumping off his sinking ship.
ByeDon! Just begone!

(46,122 posts)Trump would find the opportunity to reek havoc and try to destroy the country with his minions to be irresistible. He feeds on mayhem and chaos. And the same result if he has to leave the WH by choice or compulsion: back to Mar-A-Lago and Trump Tower.

(5,315 posts)As bad as we've seen from trump up to now, I don't think we've seen the worst yet. Far from it. His evil knows no depths and he knows what he's facing once he leaves office. He'll fight tooth and nail with everything he's got until the last minute.
I believe that you are correct

I come from a NYC construction family. (Little company, defunct for the past 15 years, but we were often subcontractors to the subcontractors on big NY construction jobs.) Trump left a huge and public trail of bodies behind him wherever he went since the 80s. I kept waiting for that to come out during 2016 and it never did.

(22,037 posts)She read Mary's book this week instead of watching the RNC. She was completely disgusted by the stories of the Trump family.
After her verbal reviews, I've decided not to waste my time on the book. Frankly, there's nothing anyone can tell me about Trump that I don't already know or suspect.
The man is evil incarnate.
He's also an idiot.

(92,219 posts)64% of the republicans believe the number of deaths reported is a false number
10% of Democrats in that CBS poll said the number of deaths is acceptable.
73% of republicans said the way the U.S. is dealing with it is going well, and 27% of Democrats agreed with that statement
I think you are giving too much credit to a good segment of the American public.

(5,499 posts)I think at a certain point if he thinks he won't win, he will take as many Republicans with him as he can. He'll try to tank it all. His rationale will be that Republicans are not grateful for all he did for them, so they don't deserve to keep their seats if he loses.

(15,223 posts)1) Trump is desperate to avoid prosecution that's certainly headed his way if he loses. He might get a pardon from Pence if he both quits the election and resigns from office, but there's still likely plenty of New York state prosecution that Pence can't pardon Trump for.
2) Using whatever hold Putin has on Trump, Putin wants Trump to cause maximum chaos. Going through with the election, losing, and then refusing to accept that loss, produces maximum chaos.

(3,816 posts)about 40% in my belief that he will drop out. That is down quite a bit from a few months ago. I do think it is still a real possibility with the correct chain of events. We'll see...

(8,069 posts)They don't read, period, and they have an insatiable urge to denigrate those who do as "eggheads" and "elitists."
The inability or unwillingness by tens of millions of voters to read anything longer than a bumper sticker or a Facebook post is a major factor in the ongoing failure of our democracy.
The only way to reach these people, if there is any way at all, is to dumb down the discussion to the point of absurdity. The GOP is willing to do that, easier for them too because they're willing to lie outright.
As for Mary Trump's recordings, from what I've heard of them thus far (admittedly not much as yet) the poor audio quality alone will have Trumpeters dismissing them outright. When it comes to anything digital or visual, slick production values are all that count.
And they always have violence as a last resort. Trump is perfectly fine sending others to kill and die to stay in power and stay out of prison.
I think things in general will get much much worse before we see the end of this regime.
