Maybe I'm not looking at the right sites. I just googled "Black Lives Matter" and clicked the links that came up.
Imo, it would be a major oversight not to be placing the word "Vote" front and center at all times on any site claiming to support BLM. "Vote" should be in the header of every page. The word should be large, bold, red, flashing, and should be a link to voter information and registration resources. Not having it there is terrible web site design at best. It's a huge flaw.
Trump has made it crystal clear that he and his Republican stooges are sworn enemies of BLM. Not voting against Trump, his stooges, and any other Republican politicians who stand in the way is exactly the same as voting against BLM in my book.
If I'm missing a point somewhere or not finding the right sites, someone please help me out. Is there a reason to leave the word "Vote" out? Am I mis-googling? I'm mystified.

(13,186 posts)Try https://blacklivesmatter.com/ and search for the word vote. There's not even a button with that label.
Here's a better link from the site under "What Matters"
https://blacklivesmatter.com/what-matters-2020/
I'm sorry, though, it's not going to get the same traffic as the home page. It's got the buttons on it, but they belong on the home page if they want a better conversion rate.
"Try https://blacklivesmatter.com/ and search for the word vote. "
That's exactly what the other poster did, in the link provided. Perhaps you didn't see "Search Results for: vote" in huge bold letters at the top of the page.

(13,186 posts)That shows you what's on the page. Try looking for "Falwell" on the Fox News site for example to see what I mean.
Requiring a user to use the site's little "search" magnifying glass to find what is perhaps the most important word ("Vote" ) is bad web design...as I said. The word "Donate" is big and on top. "Vote" belongs right next to it in my idea of good design.

(18,486 posts)I found it in under 5 seconds by clicking the "What Matters" tab. I don't know why you can't find it.

(13,186 posts)I "found" that link too. I had to find it. The word "Vote" should have found me.
Sorry. I'm picking on this site, but a couple of the others I visited have the same problem. You can't just go to their home pages and see the word "Vote" right on top where it belongs. It is just as important as the word "Donate" or the words "Support the Cause." In fact, a "Vote" link on the front page would probably drive people toward both voting and donations. The Donate link, for example, is repeated on the "What Matters" page. That's good.
I'd be really interested in their traffic statistics for voting pledges (which I love about this site).

(18,486 posts)Have you done any research about their audience and how they navigate the site? Are you an expert on how BLM's audience seeks and absorbs information?
I suspect that BLM and the people who have developed their outreach and web tools are considerably more familiar than you are with what works for them and their targeted audience.
But your "concern" that the BLM audience looking for information on its website is too stupid to know how to navigate the site and can't be trusted to find voting information that we all found in a few seconds is noted.

(13,186 posts)And criticism is essential to quality. I'm not concerned anyone's "stupid," of course. That's your inference, and it's unfortunately just wrong. I'm saying the web site designers of this particular site have what (by my lights of course) is a big flaw in serving their visitors. And it's just obvious, imo.
And I've seen it in at least two other sites.
Also, I just had a thought on edit. Being concerned that someone is calling us stupid is something I don't recommend. I literally don't care if someone else thinks I'm stupid, and I recommend that attitude. One of the terrible things about Trump cultism is that Trump riles people up by claiming the "elites" think they are stupid. That hardens them against criticism which, in turn, leaves them in the cult at Trump and his stooges' mercy.

(13,186 posts)I wasn't trying to criticize this site in particular. But you're right. I should do something if I believe something, so I'll contact them and let them know my criticism directly.
