How do you apologize for being something you won’t even mention?

her "apology." Quite frankly I could see the imagery of her being tossed into the gorilla enclosure and expected to deliver her "sincere" apology THERE. I'm betting his thoughts weren't far off of that imagery either.

Yup, he was taking one for the "team," but he is NOT buying it. I give that on-air partnership about five more minutes.

That would have been my last say or hers - the network would have had to decide.

I don't think any of us know what we actually would have done if we were in his position.

He was nice and didn't say that suggesting that a black man looks like a gorilla is racist.

and I think it's a way to protect yourself. It steers the focus of an encounter away from a potentially personal insult to something you can laugh about it. Because dealing with the personal insult and humiliation is too uncomfortable.

because of those fake tears because they were meant to make others feel sorry for her. I doubt she'd be so stupid to deliberately blurt this out had she meant it as a racist insult but it was still telling in regards to how she sees her colleague and that she has no self-awareness.

I also agree with the poster who mentioned the body language. No, you aren't his friend.

I remember hearing that he actually begged the producers/managers not to fire her. I'll try and find the article.

Racist, white supremist, content to flow freely. Misinformation and lies are A-okay.They enabled Trump to be elected and are continuing to do so. They are poison. Maybe there is a way to insert a $ in their name? They are way, way, worse than M$NBC will ever be.

14. In 1977 I made a bunch of sock monkeys for a charity sale

The charity helped kids in underserved schools get tutoring, mentoring and financial aid to get into prep schools and college. No where in my entire upbringing did anyone in my world compare African Americans to animals. I never heard it. I had no idea.

My hard work was for nothing. The sock monkeys were turned away, as they should have been. I gained a much needed education the hard way. To say I was mortified is an understatement but even more so, broken hearted that I hurt people I cared about with my stupidity. It was my responsibility to know better. Lucky for me all the ladies new me well enough by then within a short time we managed to trudge on. I doubt it was ever forgotten. They were just kind enough not to toss it in my face.

Who knows if this woman is just stupid or if she's full on racist. Either way, it is up to whites to learn these things and not go there. It is our responsibility. We need to be teaching each other what our dumbshit ancestors did and be mindful.

You made the sock monkeys but never told anyone they looked like them - big difference

i try to give the benefit of the doubt to people, but you are right. The comment - and the ease with which it was made - is just so ridiculous beyond all reason, it's impossible to make the case to simple stupidity. She knew, she just thought she could get away with it.

That said, I still feel whites have the responsibility to stop this crap. We are the ones perpetuating this garbage. It's on us. I am old. I do so hope the next generation does a better job than we did.
